I got this remote, and got to say it really is fab! Until you've tried a Harmony remote control you won't understand just how good they are - after a whole series of universal remotes I was very sceptical, but these really are the real deal!

You program the remote on your PC, tell it all the components and what input they're on - then one button will switch you between watching a DVD on the TV to playing Xbox on the projector (having turned off the other components and switched the amp to the correct inputs). That probably doesn't sound much, but when you have to faff with 6 different remotes and have forgotten what input to switch the TV to it is a god send.

I have this remote and it's brilliant

Does it cook your breakfast in the morning? A couple of fried eggs with bacon...yum...

of course it does you can even programme it to wipe your ***

Are these easy to set up? They sound a bit complicated?
#11
Yeah, I'd really like to be able to see what it involves setting one up. I'm helping a friend of mine put together a shopping list for his living room renovation, and I'd love to be able to recomend an all-in-one remote, but it does seem that the high cost of the logitech remotes makes them somewhat off-putting.

I'm not paying that price for a remote, when in my day you actually got up to change stuff, and got some exercise to boot.

Not voting either way, but shocked that people pay this, avoidable, cost

well in your days pops you only had one thing to control now there are so many appliances you would like to control with just one remote rather than sitting there with so many remotes in your hand.

I'm shocked that an old fossil like yourself knows how to use a computer.

Got a H1 already but voted hot.

Got to agree they are expensive, but I've yet to come across another one anywhere near as good!

The software is very easy and intuitive, and you can go to www.logitech.com for a list of supported devices, and I think you may be able to download the software and have a play with it before buying.

Also worth noting that this comes with a charge cradle, so no more batteries required.

Cheers andy, good idea.

But i don't think it'S fair of some people to have a go at someone saying that this is an unnescesary accessory - it is, but these days remote controls are needed (not all controls are available on the front of TVs anymore) and a well laid out universal remote is a very valuable item.

I love how these things always spark a debate on their neccessity.

MOST stuff in your home isn't a neccessity, but you buy them anyway.
If you've five or six boxes sitting under your TV these things are great. You may think they are expensive when you can get All4One for £20 from Argos, but those things have nowhere near the functionality of the Harmonys.

And as for voting cold, well I don't own a PS3 but I'm not going to vote a PS3 game deal cold because I won't buy it. That's just daft.

All those people whinging about the cost are probably the same people who buy supermarket own brand TV sets and home cinemas in a box.

I use one of these
http://www.e-bowl.co.uk/products/4824.html
which is far superior and flexible than a harmony but costs 10 times as much. But when you consider the amount of kit it controls (including lighting, reclining chairs,400 CD changer,etc...) you'd actually appreciate having a fully customisable integrated remote system. Unless you see it in action you'll never appreciate its true value.

It's like many things on this forum, if you don't understand the item don't complain or vote.
