For £8 extra you can get the newer MX Performance mouse. It uses "Dark Field" so can track on glass etc and comes with the unifying receiver so one mini dongle can be used for keyboards, numeric keypads and mice.

I had this MX Revolution and it should be noted that unlike the newer MX Performance mouse the middle wheel can be set to ratchet and freewheel so when you spin fast it goes in to freewheel then when it slows it goes back to ratcheting. Also this mouse has a scroll wheel on the left as well.

The newer mouse in my link has a button so you can select freewheel or ratchet for the middle wheel and the sidewheel has been removed.

My MX Revolution ratchet mechanism failed so I got a free MX Performance mouse under warranty. This is probably why the auto switching has been removed on the newer mouse, due to failures.

I miss the auto swtiching freewheel/ratchet but prefer the darkfield and unifying receiver on the newer mouse.

Once you've used one, you'll never go back from a Logitech MX or VX mouse. They are the mouse's bo**ox. If you only ever splurge the cash on one extravagant computer accessory, it should be your mouse (and possibly keyboard if you don't have a laptop), After all, it's what connects you to your PC, the one you're using right this second. I always wonder what makes people spend £hundreds/££thousands on their computer, and then spend as little as possible on the very thing they use most to interact with it. Doesnt make sense to me.

I'm on my 5th or 6th logitech mouse, I tend to upgrade to a newer model after a couple of years or so, and then put the old one on ebay.
