My parents are looking for a webcam and I came across this - anyone know if this is worth the extra spend over the newer Logitech C510 HD Webcam which is on special at £29.99 at the moment

It looks like this is an older model and looses some of the new gadgets like a facebook (but their not interested in that) but it does seem to have a higer resolution - but it maybe the newer one has refined a few more of the features

I have had one of these for a year now and have no regrets. The latest software from Logitech has improved it's performance no end and it continues to be (in my opinion) one of the better webcams for the money. It has come down a lot in price now so I have have just bought another for a system I'm building for some old folks at a nursing home so they can speak to their relatives on Skype!!

Good webcam, better than most other webcams as this offers full 720p HD
(note: Skype supports this for HD calls but you need a quad core PC and 2Gb RAM for encoding + 800 Kbps bandwidth -- which is nearly impossible: even if you have 1Mbit uplink your connection to other party will hardlky ever be 800Kbps with current technology)

Similar top end webcam which is a tiny bit cheaper is the Microsoft Lifecam Cinema (think about £32 from Kikatek)

Both the HD Logitech and the MS Lifecam are a few years old but still better than lower priced webcams

Yes Plap, I would agree with you on both counts. I also bought a Lifecam earlier this year (V5500) when it was once on offer for £15 and it's superb. New technology doesn't always mean better!

Any difference with the consumer version? So far, I see it is 2 year warranty vs 3 year warranty.
Hardware all the same?
Longer cable?
Would I still be covered if it is foe business use?
UVC compliant?
