If you want a better remote control and have an iPhone or iTouch check out iPeng in the iTunes store. £5.99 for a pritty decent app that lets you view and play your music collection, search for internet radio stations etc.

Pictures and reviews of the app here

I am looking to replace CD / Radio in kitchen for good quality digital radio. I have an Ipod and maybe one day, an Iphone.

Anyone know if you can record from the radio on this?

Pretty sure you can't, but you could just record the radio on you PC? This isn't a standalone device, it streams your music from your PC (it can also stream internet radio via a router, but I presume if you have one of thos then you probably have a PC too.)

Great price, I read a review that said the sound quality is superb but the controls are fiddely.

I presume the price drop is due to the new Squeezebox radio & touch released a few months ago.

Not really, it's a completely different kettle of fish to the radio and touch. The radio is mono only and is aimed at the bottom end of the market. The touch is a nice touchy screen thingy, needs an external amp and speakers and really replaces the SB3. The Boom sits somewhere in the middle, great sounding and has a stereo amp and speakers built in. Add a subwoofer and it sounds amazing.
As for dropping in price it hasn't really. Started at £150 about a year ago, went up to £180 then down to £150 then down to £105 (if you were quick at ordering from Amazon) then up to £180 and now back at £150. Well worth £150 IMHO and as a previous poster said, if you have an iPhone or an iTouch then get iPeng - gives you much more control than the little remote that comes with the unit.

Weirdly (portable) digital radio and quality do not always sit well together. It's all about selection of channels v. quality of sound as a rule (I've got 4 of them an srtill listen via sky which is linked up to an old amp)
That being said this is not just a digital radio but can stream music from your PC or NAS (anyone out there with a ReadyNAS?). You download the software from Logitech which looks for the music on your PC or NAS and you can then search and play it on your Squeezebox.

These are fabulous. I have two running off a Readynas Duo. I got the ipeng remote however and find it terrible. Unresponsive and figgly. I bought the Squeeze Remote which is infinitely better, if not exactly cheap.

OMG. I'm outta here..............you lot are talking a different language. :w00t:

Happy with what I ordered. Bear in mind....I am 50+, love my radio in the kitchen, hate hissing Classic FM........not for much longer! Download many podcasts for travelling. Husband partially sighted and loves the plays on radio but not that keen on computer, can now record them himself :-D

Hmm, don't know why you are having problems with iPeng. I had a Logitech Harmony 555 and a Squeezebox Controller and have ditched both as the iPeng App is more than up to the job.

That's the current price. I got the controller along with the duet for £149. :p
Plus you have to have an ipod at a cost of £100+, though of course they do do a hell of a lot more.

Still " not exactly cheap" is hardly an understatement. A "little bit more" - that would be an understatement.
