A networked music system that PC Pro raves about (currently on their A-list) , it's a bit like the Soros multi-room but a fraction of the price, now even cheaper. Most places have it around the £260 mark but Ebuyer are doing it for £230. The streaming unit is the size of a paperback, controlled from a remote with a colour screen. It supports every format from OGG to Apple lossless, with Internet radio thrown in. Users on Amazon report being up and running in five minutes thanks to the brilliant interface. I might bring back the Archos 605 I bought two days ago for a refund and buy this instead...

Fantastic piece of kit. Go to www.slimdevices.com for more info and a great support forum should you have any problems. My 1000 cd's are now packed away in the loft and I have instant access to them all through the Duet and SB3 classic. Good price as this was £299 when it came out earlier this year.

I have a squeezebox and would recommend it. Very easy to use and takes up very little room.

Seems an awful lot of money from something that only handles music formats :-(

Perhaps I expect a bit much from kit I buy, but I would be looking for a box doing all video formats too, for one thing, I am trying to keep the number of boxes lying around down to sensible numbers!

You're quite right, it would be great if it streamed video and you have to wonder if the principles involved aren't exactly the same. But as for the price - compare this with other setups that fulfil the same function and you'll find few do it this well for this sort of price.

It has been reported on certain internet forums that the remote incorporates many circuits that haven't been activated yet, such as an accelerometer, which would suggest Logitech has more functionality in mind in future firmware revisions. But whether that includes video, who knows?

for release 7.3 of squeezecenter it's widely expected that the headphone socket will be activated so you'll be able to wander around with the controller in your pocket to listen to your music. There is also an SD card slot but nothing confirmed as to what it will be used for.

I don't think you can compare a bluetooth headset to the SB controller

Not at the end of the garden I can't, but depending on what headphones I use with the receiver, it gives results barely noticeably different from any other source with those headphones!

It's a 200 quid box here we are talking about here. not 20,000 quids worth of HiFi! :whistling:
