Logitech X-230 PC multimedia speaker system - £23.99 or less delivered @ Amazon !

Posted by Ray earlier; this has slightly dropped in price + there is now the option of getting additional £10 discount for signing up to Amazon DVD rental or £15 for Amazon / Halifax credit card.

Description : Crank up the audio on your PC with this 2.1 speaker system and enjoy clean, crisp, consistent sound from your games, music, and more. The Logitech X-230's high-tech subwoofer adjusts itself dynamically to deliver distortion-free bass. And the two wall-mountable satellite speakers use Logitech's patented FDD2 technology to eliminate the uneven sound response created by conventional dual-driver designs. The result: a clear, uniform sound field without the "hot spots" and inconsistency of other dual-driver satellites.

On a side note, anyone know how to get a replacement under the 2 year guarantee as I think mine have developed a fault.
#5
Ive got a set of these. They are great !
#6
i have a set of these as well, they're excellant (y)
#7
As the above have said, excellent set of speakers for the price, shame i paid £31 for them last week. :x, so great price!
#8
I am using these speakers right now! I also got a pair for my Dad and Grandpa, who both love them.

I think I have had mine for over a year, and they still work brilliantly! Only trouble is mine cost £39.99!!!!
#9
I got these a month ago when they were a similar price, maybe a quid or two more. They're nice speakers, especially for the price.
#10
Me too - i got these at this price about 3-4 weeks ago - well pleased with them.
#11
Could someone who has got them do me a big favour and post the dimensions of the sub, my desk is quite a small and I wondered if it would fit.

Cheers
#12
If you bought them from Amazon in the past few weeks, dont they do a price promise where if you bought it at a higher price they refund the difference? I could be mistaken ...
#13
Very good speakers, if you want a little more Musical quality from them I highly recomend hooking them up to a Sonic-T Impact Amp - and congrats you've got your self a cheap seperates system.
#14
Hi- its 5 and a half inches x 9 " (depends which way round you have it) and its 9 inches tall.

9.5" High
6.5" Wide (including speaker grill that sticks out)
9.5" Deep + 2" for the cables that go in

I have these speakers and they tend to lack a bit in the treble department, so if you listen to a lot of music I wouldn't recommend then, as they dont sound as clear as one might like.

If youre into drum and bass on the other hand buy 2 sets!!

Many thanks catwoman and JeeBeePSB, be a sqeeze but think I might go for them :)

I own these exact speakers based on reviews that they were decent - they aren't, they're very tinny (to the point they give me a headache) and the bass is too strong. I wouldn't recommend them and suggest people pay the extra for something decent. You get what you pay for.
#20
truly great speakers, have 2 sets of the 5.1 version and 2 sets of this 2.1 version and never found any reason to upgrade\change them as they sound great.

Be warned though that these speakers are prone to picking up (and I'm not joking here as this problem is well documented and ackowledged by Logitech themselves) Russian radio broadcasts when the volume is set to zero! It's something to do with the lack of magnetically shielded speaker cable buf if you source some replacement cable the problem is gone. Very strange when late at night you're sat there with your speakers set to a low setting and all of a sudden Russian Dialogue comes beaming through the speakers as if a local taxi firm were using your gear to broadcast through! There were comments on this very issue on Amazon dating back over the years so please don't think I'm making this up! Great speakers when they're working properly :)

ive got these and they are top speakers looks like some more on the way to little ol me lol
#22
I'm after a pair of cheap white speakers to go with my iMac and Mac Mini.
#23
Got mine about 3 years ago for £25.99. Good speakers!

Mixed reviews so far but with more good than bad. I’m looking for some speakers as a present and the fact that these are 32W is a slight concern. I’m wondering how they’ll compare against the Creative L3450 which can often be had at Scan for £23.49? They’re 48W and I don’t need to pay postage.

I know that wattage is not the most important criteria but I’m wary of systems with very low power.

I ordered the L3450 from scan, I also own the X-230, I'd say the quality of both speakers are similar, the bass is a little tighter on the X-230, the creative is nicer looking tho, you get a lot of bits and bobs with creative, it's fancier, but I think I prefer the X-230

i also take it you need a half decent sound card to get the full benifit out of these ?

I have some sort of soundblaster card in mine (possibly creative) that came in my 3 yr old dell 8400

I've had a pair myself for 2 years - great speakers for the price. Nice design too and the subwoofer is slim. They should also come with a spliter for games console input - if you want to use them for that ;-)

They are being replaced with the X-240 although I don't like the look of them...ugly speakers but nice cradle

I very much doubt they are good enough to benefit from using a high grade sound card; this isn’t HiFi.
#32
thanks ordered one set :D

My friend uses these speakers and although they are more than adequate for your average PC user, but if you like quality sound then they are a bit below par. Plus the bass is too much, even set on minimum. It'll will drive everyone in the house crazy!

Having said all that, for that price, you get what you pay for!
#34
Good price. As a warning I, as some others have found, that the set of speakers has a rather high level of base. Even at its lowest setting. You can't turn the base off or run the two other speakers standalone.
O.K. if you have a separate equalizer, but not if (like me) your MS Vista Realtek drivers don't.
#35
I am in the market to get new PC speakers, can anyone recommend a model that can provide quality output?
#36
Also if you are a student type in your valid NUS card no and you will receive an extra 5% off all Amazon purchases
#37
i got these several months ago for a few quid more. I've read a couple of articles saying you can't get better speakers for sub £100.

Not sure how anyone can support that claim without trying them all out but I have not been disappointed and they do not sound like cheap speakers.

Best buy speakers imho for those on who don't want fork out a load.

Itunes on mac (although I don't like it that much)

Ok - off topic a bit...

What about these lads -
Creative Gigaworks T40

http://images.play.com/covers/3477102x.jpg
You've maybe heard of the T20 versions of these speakers and how good they are. These look set to be the ones to beat now.

I only mention this as Play.com have them on pre-order for £84.99 delivered - due for release tomorrow although I think that's a bit optimistic. Looking at some other websites I think they're supposed to retail at £105. Could save you a few quid if your in the market for some - I am :-D

Great speakers, I have these as well and can't fault them (TOUCH WOOD!) :)
