Setting up the X-230 speaker system is a snap, too. A single cable runs between the two satellites and another cable runs to the subwoofer for power. One more color-coded cable connects to your source's 3.5mm output jack; the set can be used with computers, portable media players, CD players, or even console game systems with an optional adapter.

Good speakers for their value. Got a set as well, been working great for at least 3 years now!
#6
Amazing for the money!
Paid £25 for these a couple of weeks back to use with my xbox. Plug them straight into the headphone socket of my 32" LCD.

A question for those that have these speakers. I just read a review on Newegg that the volume control on the speakers doesn't work for headphones when you have headphones plugged in.

Is this true? If so, anyone using headphones would have to keep fiddling with the volume settings on their operating system.

I've always found with these speakers that if your settings only specify the front range to go to the front left/right speakers then thats all you'll get in the headphones too... for example. i have the 5.1 version of these too, and if i plug headphones in i get NO bass in them..

Maybe be me configuring them wrong but still handy as a heads up

I have these speakers for my xbox 360 they plug into the tvs headphones socket and really compliment the tv speakers and the sub is fantastic. Great for adding depth to sound in films, music and games

Unfortunately that's true, you will need to fiddle with the operating system volume as the volume knob will not work when you have headphones in.
#16
I have the 5.1 version of these, and they've been great. The headphone slot's quality is horrific, but they're excellent speakers. Heat added.
#17
Thanks for the post, just reserved a set!

do these have a port so i can plug in an mp3 player and have my tv connected at the same time?

how do these compare to the logitech z-4? as far as i can the z-4 has a seperate volume control for the sub woofer and also allows you to plug in an mp3 at the front of the speakers. i dont want to have to pull out the cable from the tv and connect it to the mp3 everytime.

According to the site they don't have a headphone socket, but it appears from the picture that they do.

I have these speakers, and found the bass to be too strong for reasonable use - even when the bass is fully turned down, I find that its overpowering, and as I live in flats, was completely inappropriate to even listen to say itunes on shuffle at mid to low volume purely due to the sub being too much for the mid range level.

If your able to play your sounds loud then these will be great.

Good price so is a hot deal
#21
Hot! We use these at work where they easily fill a very large room with sound.

Ordered a set for home.
#22
You saying if i use the green connector and connect it to my tv's headphone socket it will work/??? (playing xbox ps3)
#23
Best speakers on the market in this price range.
They sound great!

how do you use the voucher with click and collect if you can't pay until you visit store?
#25
Very tempted but they are £30 from Amazon, and have been for a few years according to reviews (which are very complimentary), so not really half price as Comet claim. Never the less if any one knows how to get the voucher to work on reserve-and-collect I'll be getting a set.
#26
Nice... Just reserved some.

I used the voucher for reserve and collect and my confirmation printout includes the 10% discount.

I'd agree with that - it would be nice to be able to turn the bass down more, as even on the lowest setting it is ridiculous! Wouldn't have thought it would be a problem when connected to iTunes/iPod or whatever as you can turn the bass down at the source using the equaliser, but I have these for my PS3 and there is no EQ - it's either mega bass or nothing!! Not good for when the nipper is in bed.

COD4 + these speakers + sleeping baby = TROUBLE.

Other than that absolutely brilliant for the money. Hot!

A bit of a newbie question chaps, but i presume these can be used for a laptop (Dell XPS) i.e. using the headphone jack? Or is there another connection i could use?

Confirmation would be greatly appreciated :-)

Thanks

Yes, as long as you have a minijack to phono lead - they will accept any input source.

I Agree, this is a brilliant set, picked it up a year ago...
excelent quality, and the sub pounds away with bass... have had is turned up to maybe 10% and it kicks off more than enough bass
#33
Cheers boz, nice one fella
#34
I also bought these over two years ago and for the money thay are amazing value. The woofer box really pumps out deep bass.

Although what people say about the headphone socket is true in that you cannot alter the headphone volume using the volume control, look on the positive side - on mine, the headphones work even though the Logitech is powered off. You're helping to save the planet!!

On a serious note i've never found it to be a problem but one way round it is to mebbe use headphones with some form of built in volume control.
#35
Bass to loud?

Put a sock in it! :)
#36
Cheers, was after some for my workstation. Any ideas if these have got a proper power switch (i.e. one that kills the power to the subwoofer too so there's no hum)?

Damned comet site keeps crashing when i try and checkout
#37
I have these speakers and they are superb. http://img300.imageshack.us/img300/1774/thumbsupsmiley.gif
