anybody got these??

how does the ipod dock bit work ??

is it just a holder thing, and you plug a regular line out cable into headphone socket or what ?

edit: answered my own question, from one of the amazon reviews:

Please do not be fooled, I bought this believing it had an iPod/iPhone dock that would let you use it independantly of your PC. All it has is a flimsy pull out shelf which holds the Ipod in place, you then have to manually connect a wire from the headphone jack to the mic-in on the dock, and if you want to charge it on the the so called dock you need to use your own cable.

thought that might be the case.

I bought these a while back with my TV over at John Lewis for £25. Comes with a year manufacturer's warranty as far as I can remember.

iPod dock works as a little pop-out shelf on the control box, there's a range of plastic bases to match the iPod you have (none for Shuffle), your USB cable goes under the control box and up through the base to work as a dock for your iPod. Also the control has a line-in socket to contect to other devices instead of having to use the main headphone plug which would be connected to your TV/HiFi.

It's all a bit hard to explain, really :p

The subwoofer acts as the main output which has a wire for power. The speakers and control box connect to the subwoofer. The control box has a wire to connect to your system's headphone jack.

The control box is the one in the picture with the iPod in front, it has an analogue volume dial, power switch, a line in and a line out jack. You can control the bass that comes out of the subwoofer with the dial behind the actual subwoofer which may be a hassle to reach for some.

What else... when you leave the speaker on with less than 25% volume, they pick up radio frequencies and static which can be annoying at times. Only the subwoofer outputs bass so if your subwoofer is set to no bass, you will hear no bass which makes some sounds sound weird. Wires are pretty long and tangle easily so it's frustrating to sort out.

All in all, decent speakers.

HOT. bought these for 30 quid a month back. nice speakers but bass not quite heavy enough for me. Good quality sound for the price though!
