Plug the Logitech X-530 into your PC, music player, DVD player, or even your PlayStation or Xbox game console and immerse yourself in clean, crisp, consistent surround sound from your games, movies, and more. The high-tech subwoofer adjusts itself dynamically to deliver distortion-free bass. And the five wall-mountable satellite speakers use Logitech's patented FDD2 technology to eliminate the uneven sound response created by conventional dual-driver designs. The result: a clear, uniform sound field without the "hot spots" and inconsistency of other dual-driver satellites.

Class.

Good speaker set these have them hooked up to the 360.
#6
Can I use these with my laptop using just a 3.5mm jack? I know the audio would not be 5.1, but that wouldn't bother me. Would it be stereo or mono?
#7
is it worth going for the 540's though?

Haha that's exactly what I see everytime I look at the centre speaker - I have it placed in front of my keyboard so the speaker looks like walle's eyes and the keyboard like his solar charging panel.
#9
Whats the difference between these and surround sound for your tv?

Same spec both have, apparently 540s are better built as a few people have said these ones fall apart after awhile

But basically depends which ones you like the look of and if you think they are worth the extra £20 odd.

I would believe so, amazon have a 3.5 jack adaptor (for an mp3 player) so would say you could use that for your laptop

These just come with a 3.5 jack. The more expensive ones (x540) come with a 'game console adapter', so you basically convert the rca from your tele to 3.5 audio jacks for the surround sound.

X540 model has 'Matrix mode' to create a 5.1 surround sound from 2.1 input, an extra £20 on amazon:

The Logitech x540 (£20 more than this on amazon) can, It uses a 'Games Console Adapter' which just converts it from the 2 RCA out of the tele (ensure your tele has audio out tho).
#16
does this have optical input?
#17
Bought this last xmas for £50. Sound from it is brilliant, highly recommend it, especially for this price.
#18
It's been this price for ages, hardly a 'deal' given that the better X-540s are less than £20 more

No optical input, you won't find that on a system in this price range

Yes mate, has all seperate connections for each speaker for your sound card.

Actually it only has 3 connectors to your PC;
Front L/R (green plug)
Rear L/R (black plug)
Centre & Sub (orange plug)

The front right speaker which has the power and volume control on it, has the above 3 plugs on it, and also what looks almost like a RS232 adaptor (which is what connects to the sub).
From the sub, you get all the other individual speaker connections.

The wet will work as 2 or 4 channel, or even as a 5.1/6.1/7.1 set.

For more details check the manual; X-530 manual

Speaker technology hasn't changed much over the last 4 years. It's not like a graphics card or CPU that needs updating. It works fine.
