Immerse yourself in the game with the outstanding surround sound of Logitech’s X-540 speaker system. Dual driver satellites use FDD2™ technology to eliminate uneven response created by conventional dual driver designs and matrix mode creates 5.1 surround sound from 2-channel sources. An innovative centre channel speaker clips onto the top of most flat-panel LCD monitors. The ported subwoofer features dynamic, real-time equalization that maximizes bass while minimizing distortion. The X-540 also features a convenient control pod with volume and subwoofer level controls, as well as a headphone jack for private listening. Satellite stands rotate for easy wall mounting.

Sorry but I'm not very tech savvy. Can you plug this into an HD TV?
#3
yes you could, probably in the headphone socket. it wouldn't give you true surround sound, it would probably split the left and right channels across the five speakers. it would be better than the standard tv speakers though. if you want something for the tv consider the ebuyer soundbar. there's a post on here somewhere.
#5
Well this is getting expensive :) Ordered, have some heat.

lol paid less 3 years ago, good for pc speakers for which they are intended but rubbish as av speakers which is what some skinflints use them for, why?

I bought these for 45 pounds a few months ago. DO NOT use this as a surround sound system, the back speakers are too quiet and its just not worth it. If you can get similar spec for 2.1 system and same price get the 2.1 system it'll sound cleaner. I would recommend them though, the subs excellent and if you just leave 2 speakers on then its fine.

I've owned these for a few years too, they really are great speakers. I used them for our New Years Eve party and had everyone telling me how good the sound quality was. It has a "Matrix" mode which uses all 5 speakers even with two-channel audio. I've had them hooked up to my laptop/PC/PS3/TV, sounds amazing on all of them. A little heads up as well, these things can go VERY loud.. which is always good (for me, not the neighbours) :p

very good speakers, they work well with the av in the tv when the matrix mode is on :)

Surprised spammers are getting through. Hotukdeals need to update their anti-spam software me thinks!

Without sounding like a smart ass, it isn't a person dh058977, it's a bot. It's probably someones home computer sending out spam messages as part of a botnet.

Great set of speakers, I bought these a couple if months ago direct from logitec when they were on offer

I have owned a 2.1 and a 5.1 of these speakers and one of my ex bought the 5.1 also. I can tell this sound system is great! The bass is just unbelievable for this price. It's a shame I can't connect it to my LG plasma :( (It has no headphone socket.)

Can someone explain how the rear speakers are quiet when connected to an AV system yet fill the room when connected to a PC?

That's why there is a volume control pad - It not only controls how loud you use the speakers or how many speakers you use, but also a seperate control over how much bass you pump out (from zero to 17 year old car sterio music) oO

I bought it from Logitech in November and connected it with my lcd (sky +hd, bluray player connected) using headphone socket. This X540 has got Matrix mode which converts audio to 5.1 channels which for sure does not give true 5.1 but works brilliantly and does not let you down.

Good price again. HOT

Awesome Speakers!

great price!!

Great budget system. Got from Logitech a few months ago when on offer. I use the matrix mode always, as it is plugged into my laptop. I keep the bass turned down a little, as max is a bit too boomy.

I know this has already been asked but I am considering these for my dad as the sound on his new lcd tv is rubbish. But what are the connections on these speakers? How would it connect - to the tv or to the sky box? can the volume be controlled by remote control? Any other options/suggestions welcome especially if it avoids the need for another separate remote for volume control. Thanks

I wish the Logitech Z-5500 speakers were on a good offer. They look beastly!
#31
You need to plug it into onboard sound or a sound card that has front, centre and regular green connections (green which i just assume is front when used in multi speaker set ups).

Decent budget speakers for a pc but do not buy them for a tv. I think you will only get stereo from 2 of the speakers, the games adapter uses red/white, left and right audio its supposed to be for games consoles but you wont be able to use the adapter with HDMI as you can only use optical with that.

Better of buying a receiver and some speakers or a Onkyo setup or one of those crap cinema kits.

The logitech z-5500s are good but they kinda are again computer speakers, they do have optical audio though. People who seem to get them cheap through the years they have been out are lucky as they area always over £100; right now close to £200.

damn i ordered these without the code last night, anybody know a way of cancelling the order so i can do it with the code again??
