Good value speakers, the x230 were very very popular and this set has MP3 dock built in

Place the Logitech X240 2.1 Speakers at the centre of your digital audio centre.

High excursion drivers deliver full and rich sound, while real time bass equalisation maximises bass response to minimise distortion.

Thanks to a ported down-firing subwoofer with 4 drivers the X240 Logitech speakers produce deeper bass sounds for you to enjoy.

For convenience these 2.1 speakers feature and integrated stowaway cradle which slides out for charging or to sync your iPod or other digital music player.

Enjoy the great sound produced by the Logitech X240 2.1 speakers and share it with friends, or alternatively take advantage of the headphone jack and listen to your favourite tunes in privacy.

These are weaker than the X230's, and IMO the sound quality isn't as good either. Just average for their price really.

I got these, and for the money they aren't too bad...I found the sound quality acceptable and is such an amazing step up from laptop speakers etc, which is all you can expect for this price right?

only small niggle is that they sometimes humm a little when on but not doing anything..gets a bit annoying, (but thats probably just my set up??)

Nope it's not just your setup that hums, mine do also, to the extent I'm looking to replace them.

You get what you pay for, and the "mp3 cradle" is very basic....Save your cash and get something better.

They are probably just bored.

spend a bit extra and get the z4s from logitech, they are brilliant!

I have the Logitech X230's and they're great. You can get them for around £25 every so often. I'd personally go for the 230's over the 240's - just check the Amazon product reviews to see the difference in opinion. I haven't voted either hot or cold on this deal as this is still a good price if you decide on going for the X240's.

Mine also give out a high pitched noise which sometimes gets irritating.

I got my X-240s for £24.99 a while back (as they were priced wrong in Currys and should have been £39.99). They are very good but I will be selling them soon to get some Z-2300s.

Grrr, I hate it when people are like "they give out a noise when I'm not using them" So what, why are they switched on wasting electricity if you are not using them. Sorry for the rant

I think these look like a bargain. Although I haven't been searching for speakers, I haven't seen proper speakers (with a sub) with an iPod dock ( as opposed to a iPod dock that plays music)

I think they mean when no video files are being played, the speakers still hum. Or are you the type who switches on and off the speakers every time you play and stop a media file? What do you do when you browse youtube, your hand must be quite tired?
