The following is shamelessly nicked from Amazon (Who probably nicked it from Logitech themselves)

Product Description
Manufacturer's Description
Enjoy the elegant styling and premium sound of Logitech Z-4 speaker system, featuring a modern, home audio inspired design and advanced driver technology. Award-winning pressure-driver subwoofer technology delivers unparalleled distortion-free bass. Sleek satellites include durable cast-metal stands and feature one active and two pressure drivers, producing the high-quality sound you expect from Logitech. The convenient wired remote control includes a headphone jack, auxiliary input, volume, subwoofer, and power controls. Setup is easy with color-coded audio cables.

I bought these speakers on Saturday to replace some generic 2.1 set and I can safely say they are fantastic, great clarity, decent bass (Which is controllable on the remote control provided, perfect for when thumping bass is not appropriate) and is well worth the cash.

Oh, and they look pretty good too, well, I like the look of them, and in my view are well worth the extra £10 to step up from the capable X-230s.

Edit: For reference, the next cheapest is Amazon at £49.59 delivered.

A great 2.1 system > a budget 5.1 system, and some people don't want to have speakers everywhere.

Too right, I'm happy with a 2.1 system purely for playing my music from the PS3. LCD TV's don't have enough base. Paid £760 for a 40" W series Bravia that has 10w output :?

erm these have always been around £40
#6
So these are meant to be used with a TV or a PC? Or both.

2.1 speakers for under £50?? Bargan. Can't go wrong with Logitech in my eyes. http://reviews.cnet.co.uk/accessories/0,39100116,39195367,00.htm

i ditched my creative 5.1's because of the wires all over the place. these speakers are mint for the price, but be warned the bass unit is gigantic

Picked some up today. Seem good for the money.

Some cashback sites also offer money back on collect at store (of the several i'm registered with Moneybackmadness gives 1.5% for collect at store, not sure what the rates are on other sites but i'm sure someone will enlighten us)

I've got two sets of these in white for my iMacs. Paid extra for the colour.

I own a set of these and think they are great for the money. Hot deal although they are not really half-price. I paid £50 for mine a year ago.
#12
I bought these ages ago for around £35ish and the sound quality is amazing. I know I'll probably get even better sound quality with 5.1 speakers but until I start ripping my CDs into FLAC quality I'm not really going to notice the difference.

Not so sure about the price but they're really good speakers.
#13
I got these literally ages ago from comet at this price - its a good price though so I'm not voting hot or cold, I use them with my PC and they're great - lots of bass
#14
Why do people ask the question if speakers are for TVs or PCs or games consoles all the time? They pretty much all use variations on the same connection, and if you can't go straight into one box, you can normally go on the headphone out of your TV.

I purchased a set of these in September last year. They were never £80. More like £65 back then.

I think they're a decent set of speakers but I was expecting them to sound much better giving all the good reviews.

Unless you're in the market for a set of 2.1 speakers then I wouldn't buy these on impulse.
#16
These are fantastic speakers. I swapped my Creative 5.1s for this Logitech set and never looked back.

Great System, Highly Recommend For This Price!

The remote appears to have a DB9 connection so you should be able to extend it using one of these (? male - female).

Probably because marketing people have dumbed us down using words like 'Xbox 360 compatible'
All we need to know is 'AUX input' (been around for as long as I remember) the worse case scenario is popping out to buy a 99p adapter (which are normally included anyway)

It used to annoy the hell out of me when portable stereos, ghetto blasters car stereos were sold with no Aux inputs. Everything seems to have them today thanks to the ipod trend.

It needs to be that way I would rather buy something and be told this will work with ur xbox, ps3 etc. Not knowing is a barrier to purhcase and the 'marketing people' want to remove these.

These would look very good with the silver iMac. I doubt I can convince my boss to allow me to install them though :-D

Thanks alot I have one of those in the loft - perfect.

my creative 5.1 died on me last year and been waiting for a deal like this.

These are great speakers, had mine for about 2 years now. Sound great. Loads of volume & the bass is brilliant.

Im sure i only paid about £40 for them at that time, definatly worth the cash.

So you downgraded your speakers then but as long as you're happy. Or was it your other half complaining about wiires ?

As far as listening to music goes 2.1 is all you need - after all, music is recorded in two-channel stereo, so the extra satellite speakers add nothing (unless you use something like CMSS, which I don't personally like much and always disable).

Admittedly 5.1/7.1 may offer a more immersive experience for games and movies, but (like someone else earlier in the thread) I've personally chosen to 'downgrade' from 7.1 to 2.1 on my computer simply because it was too much clutter with wires and speakers all over the place.
