Will do as a spare in my front room, I only have my big floorstanding speakers but they annoy the neighbours too much when music is played in the wee hours. Hopefully switching to these will help...

As brook says - they are mains powered. Sound is tinny and you're limited to how far you can space the speakers apart (probably about a metre). If you buy these expecting a rich, deep sound you'll be dissappointed. But if you just want a cheap set of speakers and aren't too fussed about sound quality, then these fit the bill...you won't get any better for £6.
