Direct from Vietnam Airlines, nice new Boeing 787's with lie flats on all legs , 3 days a week and departs London Mon/Wed/Sat returns Sun/Tue/Fri. There does not appear to be any blanked out dates - available from now and right through July & August . 2 stop returns are available on other dates.
*** A VISA IS REQUIRED FOR TRANSIT ***
This is my first attempt at submitting a deal, I hope I got enough info on there, the link is to Vietnam Airlines but the search results may time out, also available to Melbourne

It's my understanding that a transit visa is not required for Vietnam if you stay airside. You should check this yourself if you purchase but the below describes the case if you have a British passport, travelling from the UK to AU via Vietnam

From timatic

Transit Without Visa (TWOV): Passing through an international transit area of the airport in order to board a connecting (or to proceed by the same) flight, without entering the country
(i.e. clearing immigration).

Unless stated otherwise, passengers wishing to TWOV must:
- be en-route to a third country (e.g. itinerary TYO-LON-TYO is not considered TWOV);
- prove that they will continue their journey within the prescribed period (e.g. hold onward tickets);
- have documents required for entry into the country of destination and for transit through countries en-route;
- remain in the transit area (airside) or on the aircraft.

Note: For transit purposes through China (People's Rep.), Hong
Kong (SAR China) and Macao (SAR China) are considered as third
countries, as they have their own entry regulations.

Note: TWOV is not intended for those holding stand-by tickets, e.g. airline employees or other passengers travelling on industry discount.

Vietnam Airlines was selling these tickets for £1600 only 1-2 months ago.

{Sobs in the corner @ -47} -- OK, so its not for everyone ;-)
Thanks Plunet, but I thought most would want to take time out the airport, and a Visa is required to do that.
Considering BA in July & August are 12-£1400 in economy, £2500 - £2900 in Premium & £5100 Rtn in Business . . . . .
It is a bargain, for anyone wanting to go to Australia

I agree it's a good deal for business down under. Better deals do come and go, but for a good deal with such wide open availability which doesn't require an ex-EU start this deserves to have got a little warmer.

Brits and a lot of countries don't need visas you get 2 weeks on arrival but can't enter Vietnam again within a 1 month period
