Air Asia are good for cheap flights, this is a stonker of a deal but be WARNED you will end up paying a lot more with all the extra charges they add on.
#3
was just looking for a good deal to KL! malaysia airlines is from £450 from london return from heathrow - but this includes "luxuries" such as food, luggage etc!
#4
when you add on all the extras food, baggage, seat reservations and more + taxes and take into account the seats are not exactly spacious and the frequent delays...its not really a hot deal at all

basically a long haul ryan air

much better to use a full service carrier,so not voting

Hmmmm. The cheapest in the dates it says this offer is on for that I can get is £241 + taxes + all the supplements. EACH WAY.

Poor poor deal from Air Asia.

may not kick in until tomorrow
Starting from 00:00, 9 Jun 2010

Seats are no different to cattle class on many other carriers, at 32inch seat pitch.

still at £71 each way = £141 + baggage (12x2) + meals (9+3.60) and comfort kit(5) + convenience charge (10)+ seat allocation (5x2 (std) or 20x2 (premium)) = 51.60 or 81.60 +141 = £192.60 or £222.60 return flight to Malaysia is pretty damn good price. i wonder what online entertainment they have....
#12
I want to go - badly.

Hawt.

Is it the case you can take hand luggage (cheap laundry in that part of the world!), choose no seat, buy no food, avoid convienience charge and comfort kit (whatever they are)? etc... and just pay the £71?

Yours

Scrooge.

Seems like a good deal - providing you can fly when you actually want to come tomorrow. I'll hold off voting until then.

Great deal, I will be checking web at 12.01 tonight...

I flew Air Asia X in May and thought it was awesome, its basically Malaysian Iarlines without the thrills...yes you pay extra for everything...but I slept for 8 hours and then had my ipad to watch and had a few snacks with me.

And I had more legroom on the flight than I had on my last Virgin economy flight

Now granted, my folks live in Malaysia now, and I have all my clothes there....but even so, if two of us can fly there and back with change out of £300...its a fantastic deal We will only have to pay flights and taxes, as will eat before and then sleep, take my ipad for video and then take a few pret sandwiches for a snack, then get off and eat at airport at other end...get picked up and folks house is 15 min drive
#15
I just booked a flight to Japan a couple of weeks ago but I don't think Air Asia fly there anyway.
#16
I don't get it, how is £71 a 'free seat' ?

I guess it means £71, flight free, £71taxes. Hot deal if that's the case
#17
Hot deal!
How's the temp there in Oct-Nov?
#18
how do you know the return leg will be £71?
#19
The £71 looks like the airport taxes, which will go up to £101 aftter 1st Nov

You've forgotten to add taxes, which is a pretty big chunk!

I booked return fares to Bali last year with Singapore (for Easter this year.) The return flights for 4 of us was about £88 each. Yet the total cost (and remember there is none of this luggage rubbish) still came out at £1350.

The terms and conditions say fares include taxes - I had assumed that the £71 was taxes given the title says free seats.
Unfortunately I've already booked to go with MA on 15th October for 2 weeks on a non refundable fare so no good to me.

High precipitation and temp. This is high season in Thailand so should be similar next door.

I only have Visa Debit - looks to be a problem, could anyone confirm>

great deal, wish I was free in that period :(

The temperature doesn't tend to vary a great deal - very warm at low 30's and very humid, but the amount of rain you get does vary depending on when you go - From memory I think they get quite a lot of rain in October/November - that said you can get a lot of rain anytime over there.

visa debits work as a credit card also so can still use it
#25
no - you have to pay the convenience charge for all bookings.

In flight entertainment consists of portable players which give you a choice of 7 (outdated) movies. seats are apparently like sitting on metal (in economy)

but at £220 return (for all things accounted for) its still less than half of the MAS price.... ohhh so tempting now...
#26
I read this as:
£71 OUTBOUND
£256 INBOUND

Purely because if you type in dates....the TAX out is £71....
however the tax back is only £5 and the cheapest flights are £251
So thus a total of £320ish, which is still a good deal just not as good as it would first appear!
#27
ABSOLUTELY FREAKIN' SCORCHIO HOT!

KL is an awesome city...and with so many 5* hotels in such a small space, the room rates are generally very low...I stayed at the Mandarin Oriental back in 2007, and back then the internet rate per room was £90...you can't even stay in some London Travelodges for that price!

Even if you've no reason to go, get a flight, go out for a week, stay in a swanky hotel, chill out, and remember there's enough to do in KL for a week without having to stand out in the rain...Petronas Towers, KLCC, Shopping District, Chinatown...

Nice one. Well, that's my backside sat up until midnight then. :p

I've read tax from KL is more like a fiver as opposed to STN-KL.

The sale might start at 5pm given that they are 7 hours ahead of us.

STN to KUL is £71
KUL to STN is £250

It only states as a "free seat" for STN to KUL

You now make sense!

the £71 is london to KL only. the KL offers are not to london therefore you only get the cheap fare one way! and pay normal price on teh way back.... not much cheaper than MAS now!

I dont think it does include it...

Shows that Taxes are NOT included... and this discount is only one way (ie outwards only)

Discount may well be for outbound only but I think the fare of £71 is the tax so tax is included in the discount for outbound. Shame if it is only outbound. Adding the extras suggested by Rahmed would bring the return up to £370. Malaysia Airlines are currently offering £450 which would include free drinks and Heathrow would be more convenient for some (certainly me). So maybe not such a great deal.

How's the temp there in Oct-Nov?

Good  I went at that time last year... can be cloudy on days... with a few HEAVY HEAVY showers... but clears up after a 15-20 min downpour to glorious HOT sunshine. Its gets even better towards november.
