Quite cheap flights to New York and other American cities are showing up on the system - for Delta Airlines - most online travel agents have the flights.. There is no advertised sale - so considering how low they are it is not inconceivable there is an error in the booking system. Occassionally prices do fall very low but this is a rarity these days ( Delta did do a promotion last year to launch their JFK flights ).

My advice is to book quickly if interested. If these are genuine prices other airlines might react.

I only looked at dates up to April 2008

Voted Hot!

We flew with Delta to JFK from Manchester 7 years ago, and that worked out at £150 then!!!!!! I think they have a number of seats per plane at a bargain price - probably similar to most carriers!

We are looking at returning at Christmas, but no availability yet!!!

If you book this deal, you won't be disappointed!

"No flights are scheduled between LHR and JFK for the date you have specified. Please try a different date"

**** tried loads of dates, giving up. MAN does work tho.

£217 to orlando

any reason why it takes 8h 20m LGW to JFK? Do Delta have to go on a longer route? Isn't it normally a 7hr max trip?
#14
Excellent price!

Shame about the customs regulations though...

Apparently they have people trained to spot "suspicious facial expressions", so keep a straight face!

Wonderful - Thanks!

Have been looking for a great deal to New Orleans & finally got it!
£254 each incl. taxes LHR-MSY in April WOW!
Considering taxes alone are normally over £200 - it's a GREAT price.

Was expecting to have to put in passport numbers - you do have to on expedia.
ALSO can anyone make heads or tails of the Visa requirements now? - by the look of the rules on the Delta site only those with passports issuede after October 05 are now exempt?? HELP!
#16
scanable passports you need

mine was issued 03 and went to hawaii last month
hope it hasnt changed since then

The scheduled travel time tends to be closer to 8 hrs than 7hrs. In reality flight time tend to be closer to 7hrs - but airlines add a variable amount of time to their schedules to account for ground delys etc - helps with punctuality figures.

Wouldn't exactly say it was overly nice, but location wise (5 min walk from Time Square) The Skyline Hotel was way cheaper than all the others in the area.

As for the flights, I hope you all checked where you will be sitting, as all the cheap flights I found have you sitting in front of the bulkhead where the toilets are.

Easily the busiest (and worst smelling) area of a plane. Still at those prices you can't complain too much.
#25
Booked 2 tickets from Heathrow to JFK - £173 each! Stonking deal! Cheers :)
#26
yep , price quoted was in $$$$ but included taxes

PS I went to USA in sept / oct last year and my passport was 2003 - is this new rule about scanable passports

The worst part of it was UK end - don't bother getting any duty free (ala booze) from USA if you have a connecting flight in UK as they take it off you - 100ml liquid rule!!!!!!

Christ in USA you buy it and then they meet you at the plane and hand it to you when you board

NY is not cheap to stay in by any means at any time of the year, but every where is only 15mins by subway - so dont be afraid of not being central.

check out orbitz - usa web site its a bit like expedia :)

can anyone advise me how much a decent room will cost in NY? I wouldnt intend on being there much so dont need many creature comforts, so long as its clean and pleasant!

anyone here been and have any recommendations??
I'm tempted to go for this deal, but not sure about hotels n stuff!
#29
Gotta Laugh - I have a voucher for a 'free' flight to NYC (On American) - rang up to enquire what the non-included taxes and charges were - £197 - hence free flight vouvher has negative value :!
#30

#31

#32
We stopped at the Milford Plaza in 2004.

It is located just off times square in the theater district.

It's an traditional old new york hotel in a perfect location, hotel and rooms were very clean and the staff were very polite.

coz the exchange rate is favourable, you can get a good hotel about £75/100 a night, check out trip advisor for real reviews of hotels - try and avoid weekends as the rate goes up dramatically

oh and its like London , most rooms are like a shoe box unless u want to pay

8 hours to NYC and return journey is 7 hours I think it is due to tail winds or something
#36
Hi,

When is the best time to visit New York weather and/or shopping wise?

From what I've heard - Shopping is best around Thanksgiving which is end of November weather-wise May-June is best?

Cheers,
G

honestly just get a half decent room (u wont be in it much) and you will have a great time.

TIPS
go on the subway its cheap - $7 day ticket i think and its safe, loads of people about after midnight

forget about the ferry trips - go on the staten island ferry , you see almost everything the paid trip have to offer, go through the lovely park on the way to the bay to get to it, its free (yes its FREE) u pass right by the statue of liberty , nothing much at the other end just walk out and back in and catch the ferry back more photos ogf SOL and NY skyline - save yourself £40 for a couple and when you see all those films with the orange ferry in in - you can say you been on that.

TIP on TIP go about sunset on way out - NY will be lit up like a xmas tree on the way back - unforgetable
