Seems hackable to put TomTom on it.

Just noticed the processor is 30MHz faster than the ebuyer Navigo one and also has a 16M colour screen

Its a good price - and HOT - but I suspect the price of these will plummet by the end of the year.

To be honest, it is not the best deal in the world - however I DO have a Navigo that I got off ebuyer - it has a 64k colour screen, so it's not the best screen in the world!

However for a 16 million colour screen this i definitely worth the extra £12! If I needed one I would seriously consider buying this - my N95 8Gb has a 16M colour screen, so you can just imagine it will actually be quite sharp and clear.

I have the Navigo too....

When Ebuyer first had the Navigo it was advertised as "Samsung Processor 400MHz"... I suspect the difference in processor between the Navigo and this is minimal.

However, having had a look at the photos on the Misco site it does have a removable battery which is a bonus over the Navigo. The batteries are easily and cheaply available...though in reality I guess it is only a major benefit if you can put Memory Map on it and use it for walking.

I'd be interested in real experience of this unit and whether you can put TomTom on as easily as the Navigo.

I would suspect the main issue with the screen would be brightness.

For maps, which for the non virtual type, invariably use less than ten colours. So 65536 or 16777216 colours is largely overkill.

However, it would make a difference when looking at pictures/videos (if the Looket plays videos, which there is a small chance it might from the link on the Misco page - or alternately if a program such as CORE (if it still exists - I use Linux now) was added to its software.

I'm pretty confident it can be hacked, so yes for videos the 16M colours would be much better. Plus with the slightly better processor it might be able to play them much better than the Navigo one.
