The ad in the paper says 67p/kg, so does the asda website!

Trouble with bananas is they go off too quickly in the hot weather.

Is there a way of slowing ripening - without putting in fridge where they go black ???

There's a bag you can buy, called a banana bag oddly enough, from Lakeland limited, it's bright yellow, but I used to have one, and it always kept my nanas fresh for an extra week. Goes in the fridge and stops them going brown. Basically a breathable plastic bag filled with bubble wrap.

Smartprice nanas now down to 66.7p/kg too. By the bag though, can't pick and choose...

Thanks to everyone for their advice on storage.

I usually pay 20p kg when ASDA clear out their ripe stock with a few green ones thrown in.

I eat the ripest first (cutting out any nasty bits) and then try to store the others for later.
