The Lord of the Rings Trilogy tells the story of Frodo Baggins (Elijah Wood), a hobbit who battles against the Dark Lord Sauron to save his world, Middle-earth, from the grip of evil. In the films, Frodo and his fellowship of friends and allies embark on a desperate journey to rid Middle-earth of the source of Sauron's greatest strength, the One Ring -- a ring that has the power to enslave the inhabitants of Middle-earth. The trilogy tells tales of extraordinary adventures across the treacherous landscape of Middle-earth and reveals how the power of friendship, love and courage can hold the forces of darkness at bay. Beside Wood, the films star Ian McKellen, Liv Tyler, Viggo Mortensen, Sean Astin, Cate Blanchett, John Rhys-Davies, Billy Boyd, Dominic Monaghan, Orlando Bloom, Christopher Lee, Hugo Weaving, featuring Sean Bean, and Ian Holm, with Andy Serkis as Gollum. The films also star Marton Csokas, Craig Parker and Lawrence Makaoare.

HOW VERY DULLX)

Hotter than the flames of Mordor
#3
most overated films ever?
#4
.........yeah and done on the cheap
#5
Hot from me , Great price :)

Over rated for sure. Not a patch on the excitement in the books, But thats Jackson's fault. he made King Kong the most boring film ever.

even if they are too long, you miss far too much of the story with the standard versions, that I personally think they cut the standard versions badly on purpose to make you have to buy the extended ones.

Can't you really say that about any book converted to film though, Harry potter etc

Hot price but I ain't interested.
Good to see the studio getting burned by having to sell them at this price though. They tried the double dip and it's backfired on them big time.
I'll be very hard to sell the extended editions for £18 or £19 a pop when the theatrical versions can be had for a fiver.
I'll upgrade from my DVD's when the extended versions are this price.

The price of this set seems to be dropping like a stone. I wonder if the company behind the release really fouled up on the amount of desire for the theatrical release on BD.

Oh yes - go check out the reviews onn Amazon.....

Tempting price, but I'll never want to view the theatrical versions so no point buying at any price really.
#14
Good price for a poor product

Very Hot deal - if you want the regular version this is 3 films. If you consider that many places are selling Iron Man 1 for about 20 quid or more (an absolute joke - i find it hard to believe that blurays are that much more expensive than dvds).

I guess you could. I enjoyed the extended version myself - apart from the sharkey bit being taken out and the hobbits taking back their village (due to how they ended off saruman).

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince was excellent and the dramatic bit at the end was brilliant. The film was awful, lost pretty much all of what made the book great.

Dark Materials Trilogy - not watched golden compass because I like the books too much, but i hear they messed it up.
#17
I'm not buying these until they bring the extended outs on blu ray

The theatrical versions are good films in their own right. Just because a film is extended to over 4 hours doesn't make it a better film. If you only want the extended then shutup and buy it. I'll be buying both so i can decide which to watch depending on my mood. A fiver for each bluray is an absolute steal.

Well said. Anyone that has time to spend 4 hours watching one movie, needs to get out more!

hows the transfer of theses? I heard its not that good or am I thinking of another blu ray?

the point of it was to state how superior the extened versions were ( and they are ) i saw the original non extened in the cinema .. i i did think they wre great ... but after buying the extended i will never buy , what is an obvious attempt by the film studios to rip off customers.

they could easily have bundled both version into one set ... but they tried to pull a fast one .... any film tech buff thats been around since the dawn of dvd ( me since 1998 ) wont get fooled again .. i waited on t2 until they did the proper version .. and will wait on this

Was going to hold-out until the extended editions, but tempted at this price...

Its your choice really - buy the theatrical version now, as what is a bargain price, or wait until an unspecified date to get the extended version on Blu Ray (and then yawn your way through 4 hours of tedious twaddle).

Personally I still haven't bought Star Wars on any format, as I've been waiting 30 years for the definitive High Definition 3D release with deleted nude Princess Leia scenes ;)

lol well you probably dont like star wars then ... and all this 3d rubbish is wasted on me anyway .. only got one good eye .....and i reckon ia good population of the world hasnt got 20:20 vision either .. so 3d will fail .. as it did 50 years ago .... i love how they claim this is new tech hahaha

Ordered - I have the extended versions on DVD, but always fall asleep part way through number 2.

Maybe the theatrical versions won't send me to sleep so readily ;)
#26
just placed my order great post thank you
#27
I'm waiting for the extended version to go like this one too!
#28
Waiting for the extended version with better picture transfer no point in buying this as already have this verison on dvd. Good price for anyone who can't wait though.
#29
Another vote for waiting for the extended, after watching them on DVD I can't go back to the theatrical versions.

Voting cold for "obvious reasons" is retarded. This website is about posting 'hot deals' and at £15.25 (£5.08 each) for three Blu-Ray movies, this deal is hot, no matter what the movies might be lacking.
#32
great deal, amazed how quickly this has dropped in price in such a short time period

If it continuous at this rate we will be getting LOTR trilogy as a freebie with a pack of crisps soon ;)

Hot price, tempted but still no - just to say I don't like being ripped off the only way I can.

Heat added!
#34
Voted HOT! .... very good price but, like what seems like everyone, i'm also holding out until the extended versions have been released and are on sale for a decent price.

It aint just about 'if you only want the extended...'

It is about the fact that they done a deliberately poor Transfer to bluray and done the theatrical version when it was unecessary. As the Extended versions have already been issued on DVD it would have made sense to have done it properly the first time around. Instead of making a deliberately **** poor attempt the first time around and then release the Extended versions with a 'much better transfer'
#36
ive never seen any of these films, have waited long enough to wait a bit longer.

however to the person who said anyone who has time to watch a 4 hour film needs to ''get out more'' - well some people might not like to get out at all, like me. im more than happy to never go outside if it wasnt neccesary once a week. id watch all 3 in one day, infact that is what i plan to do once the blurays are here.

This site is about hot deals but I'm not going to vote hot just because its £5 per blu-ray, I don't think the theatrical versions are as good so even at £15, I don't think they are worth it.
