Lord of the Rings - War in the North - PC (redeemable on Steam) £4.99 @ GAME instore
Went into my local Game @ silverlink in Newcastle and the guy was dropping a load of prices down on the PC games in store!
Saw him put a 4.99 sticker on this and thought i'd give it a punt!
The game installs using Steamworks so once the code is redeemed its locked to your steam account for good.
This game was down as a GFWL but I played online with a few random people in coop and the GFWL overlay never showed up at all, also the updates were done via Steam once the game installed so not sure if they patched it out or what.
I know the Steam sale is on at the moment but this game is only at 33% off and may not end up with any further reduction in price. I was trading in some old Xbox games anyway so it was ok for me getting it instore!
Game is pretty good, not earth shattering but its fun in coop and the graphics are decent too.

Achievements and private chat I guess. Is it even running anymore?
Then all my games are in one filder and program.
The majority of people with gamesave wiping problems has nothing to do with the software, it's people turning their games off mid autosave and then blaming the software.
Especially happy it's being used for dark souls as well, although the fact it's not optimised for pc means gfwl will get the blame for pretty much all of the game's problems.
Unnecessary, unwanted and a waste of memory.
Just another way of introducing DRM without all the fuss.
There are no plus sides... other than fleecing you faster than your legs can usually carry you.
It sucks when you have to crack games you've paid good money for just to get around the issue...
... im a total hypocrite, if the shoe was on the other foot i'd want to protect my investment too i guess. If they weren't so bloody expensive (don't blame piracy, selling software is like money for old rope... just ask Mr Gates) then it wouldn't be an issue.
In this country we've always paid more than in other parts of the world. Why? Because we're British suckers who will generally look to avoid confrontation and stick to the status quo.
In other countries they protest stuff like this. Here, we rant in forums, then go pay the going rate anyway.
So to sum up: Game, crap, delivery system, crap, the fact we pay 2-3 times more for software than in other regions, scandalous!

Yeah well like it or not GFWL live sucks and is hated by most people, its been said 100s of times GFWL uses about 329mb of ram while steam just barely near 140mb. Steam also supports most pc games you can also voice chat while gaming take screen shots, add non steam games to your library. Oh and the game save corruption and deletion was indeed problem of GFWL steam also provides cloud service that saves your settings, game saves, and screenshots. Yeah well Dark Souls will still be on Steam anyway in fact 95% of people who use digital service use Steam even Origin is known for having more users then GFWL isn't that hilarious ? its DRM mate and it will be hated no matter what Steam also provides one of the best anti cheat systems VAC while on GFWL every second online game you enter its full of hackers and release of Steam works makes Steam pc gaming even better.
