I thought I would post this deal all in one go as it would take alot of time posting seperate magazine deals.

Ok this is a great deal from Dennis Publishing

You can trial any of the following magazines for just £1

Maxim
Evo
Mens Fitness
Bizarre
Computer Shopper
Auto Express
PC Pro
The Week
Viz
Mac User
Computer Buyer
Inside Poker
Fortean Times
Poker Player
Octane
Custom PC

I've been doing this for years now and never had a problem, I just cancel the direct debit (via online banking) when they take the £1 for each subscription.

Bear in mind that some of these magazines cost £5 each in the shops, so it's very cheap reading.

Are you sure you just need to cancel the DD and not inform Dennis Publishing?
#2
I noticed that if you go on poker player's website.. (www.pokerplayermagazine.co.uk) you get the same deal but with a free gift..

would suggest trying the mag's website before ordering
#3
...but nice find, anyway :)
#4
if you go through quidco for the inside poker subscription, you can earn £5
just search for dennis publishing

i usually just wait until ive received the 3rd magazine

(Regarding canceling direct debit online)

So i won't recieve a penalty fee from my bank when they try and take the money but i have stopped them?
#11
dont suppose, once the 3 magazine trial ends, you can apply for the same magazine trial again? (although that would be rather cheeky :P)
#12
I wouldn`t ever dream of doing that Vortex2k6......
Maxim....
Auto Express....
Octane.....

you can indeed as i have done but these offers arent continuous, you might have to wait a few months before the £1 subscription is on again
#14
Quidco payments are very reliable too.....
#15
There`s usually some offer about. Last one i took £5 for 5 issues of Maxim. Still cheap.
#16
Excellent. Given it a go.
#17
as I say I've never had a problem cancelling direct debits, i do all mine online, they don't take the £1 right away btw, normally a few days or week after you order, even if you cancel the DD they still send the trial mags.

I didn't know banks charge for direct debits being taken when you cancel them? its a new one to me that.

Have fun everyone :)
#18
i dont have online banking is it easy to cancle these ?

Great Dealll

Thanks, ordered Custom PC. Did this a few months ago too, cancelled the DD after the 3rd magazine and it turned out fine.
#21
Ordered Evo recently on one of these deals.

Comments out of interest:
Quidco didn't track.
1st copy of Evo arrived yesterday
DD was set up but no money taken yet

Generally speaking it is a good practice to inform the company that you have cancelled a direct debit. It can save some hassle and prevents errors.
#22
Sometimes cheaper through quidco. For example you can get 6 issues of auto express for £1 through quidco.

You MUST inform Dennis publishing. I cancelled the direct debit but they still took the money by sinply setting up another one using my original details. I have asked for a refund but they have refused.

If that's true, you should contact your bank and tell them that you cancelled a direct debit and the other party set it up again without your permission.

They simply are not allowed to do that. You are covered by what is known as 'the Direct Debit Guarantee' - you don't contact Dennis for your refund, you contact your bank.

A Direct Debit has approximately the same status as writing a blank cheque. When you cancel the direct debit, you tear up the cheque. There is no fee for them to try to charge you something if you have cancelled the DD at your end (although they rarely would, because when you cancel a DD, your bank immediately informs them of the cancellation). They are not allowed to reinstate it without your permission...........

I have done this several times over the years and have always just cancelled the direct debit online with the bank. I only cancel once I can see that they have taken the initial £1 and once this has been taken I cancel, I have never had a problem and I have never contacted Dennis to cancel.
#26
gobofraggle is right, they cannot do that, direct debits are very strongly regulated, you need to contact your bank.

Needless to say i have NEVER contacted dennis to cancel my subscription, cancelling your direct debit is just like ending your contract with them, take note when you sign up it says :

I have completed the Direct Debit instruction below in the understanding that I can cancel my subscription within my 3 issue trial period and no further money will be taken from my account. The first 3 issues will be mine to keep whatever I decide.

We promise that if you’re not completely satisfied within your introductory period, you can simply cancel and no further money will be taken from your account.

It does not say you have to email them to inform of cancellation.

Same here, I've always just cancelled as soon as the £1 goes out with no probs.
#28
So just to clarify,

If I cancel my DD a few days after my £1 goes out I'll still receive 3 issues?

Great deal by the way, vote hot hot hot
