Got this deal in December then i searched hi and lo for it for a Friend, found it. If you already have a great tv and do not want to upgrade to a smart tv this is ideal you can access youtube lovefilm and many sites with this device,
I also bought some powerline 100 mbs adapters to run the internet over my in house electrical wiring from Amazon for about 34 pounds.
If your thinking of Lovefilm any way this is deal save you the money of a media player around £70 to £100.

Seems ok, could I give the box to my parents with my details to share a sub?

I assume it's new customers only though

Thats a good deal from Richer Sounds if you want just the box,. OPEN TO NEW CUSTOMERS OR LAPSED CUSTOMERS. I phoned Lovefilm as i had had been in Tesco film club before but left as the selection lagged behind Lovefilm although its all done through Lovefilm.
The girl said see would remove my email address from their register and i would be able to get the deal.
So if you have had film club deals with Tesco or Sainsburys before phone and tell them what you want to do and they will help you i am sure, then complete the process online.

I don't have a smart TV and have used the DVD rental from LoveFilm over the past year. However, it's better to look out for LoveFilm's 3 month Groupon deals (typically between £4.99 and £6.99). I haven't spent more than £25 over the past 12 months.

Well that could be interesting, let us know how you get on.

Regarding the actual media player, it's very good. I've had one for a year now after having a wd also. It's the only thing I used that plays pretty much anything you throw at it. Watched a 10gb mkv last night perfectly. Really quick and sincs with your tv if you have a Sony. Also put my 1080p camcorder footage on a drive and plays it perfectly too. Really good machine.

Choice of films for streaming on Lovefilm seems quite limited but the physical rental choice is quite good. I'm just wondering if the streaming choice on Netflix is any better.

Netflix has even less films available, more tv series though and there's always talk that they will be expanding their UK library quite soon. If you use it (netflix) through PS3, xbox 360 or wii then there are ways to access the US version though and it has a hell of a lot more content

We stream standard def lovefilm content with no buffering problems to a Sony Internet TV via WiFi from a slow wireless G router and a slowish broadband connection averaging around 5.5Mbs.

The picture quality to my eyes, seems about the same as a standard definition freeview channel. I find occasional slight pixellation of the picture, but not really often enough to be annoying, no motion blur to speak of and the black levels seem as good (or bad) as freeview standard def.

We haven't tried the high def pay per view movies, but I think we might need to upgrade our broadband and get a wireless N router.

Lovefilm have near to 6000 titles in their unlimited streaming catalogue including a few TV series. However most of the content is at least 18 months old. There are around 1000 newer titles available on pay per view. (Or sent out for free as part of the package on Blu Ray or DVD).

So far I'm not short of anything to watch.

Thanks for that - I think I'll stick with Lovefilm for a bit then
