MOD EDIT - now down to £2159.10 using codes 852550CFP & PRFREEDEL & TENEMAIL (Was £2240 when I first posted!)

Now I realise very few people may be interested in buying something like this, but I'm going to post it as it's an amazing offer for an amazing TV. This is the Philips 42PF9831D 42" High Definition Digital LCD TV from Currys which is priced online at £3499. By using the combination of the discount codes below, you can reduce this to £2240.10 - an amazing saving! When you compare this TV to others on froogle, this is BY FAR the cheapest I can see for this model.

Promo codes: 852550CFP & PRFREEDEL & PRICERN02

But wait - there's more - What HiFi Magazine have christened this TV with 'The Best 42 Inch TV in the World'! This gets a 9.1 out of 10 on the Cnet reviews - something you do not often see!! I'll post links to a few reviews in the forum thread.

Yeah, if I was rich, this would be the TV for me :) But currently, I couldn't justify buying a TV that is 6 times the price of my car...!!

Emma, I've seen this TV and it's absolutely amazing.

Simply the best 42" TV I've ever seen.

For this price, an absolute bargain.

I would love to buy it, but would never be able to justify it to the missus. :-D

No 1080p support :-(; So if you are planning to be playing PS3 games in 1080p or watching Blu-ray 1080p movies then you will have to give this a miss. I guess majority of the screens sold in UK will stick to 1080i max as that is the highest format UK TV station will be supporting for now...

Video formats : 640 x 480i - 1Fh, 640 x 480p - 2Fh, 720 x 576i - 1Fh, 720 x 576p - 2Fh, 1280 x 720p - 3Fh, 1920 x 1080i - 2Fh

I have a question. I want to buy an flat screen tv coz it looks cool but i only intend to watch normal tv(no high def). The ones i have seen in the stores look rubbish with normal tv signal, is that the case for all flat screens or are there some that do a good job of displaying normal tv?

They're all virtually the same with sky satandard digital, analogue and freeview, plasma performs better but none of them are as good as crt.
Have a look at THIS to get an idea of what I'm on about.

I think the 10% code PRICERN02 expires @ midnight tonight so anything you need at currys better hurry

Was considering the 37 inch version of this LCD. However have been converted to the plasma side of the coin by AV forums. Worth reading the thread about this tv, has its problems which put me off a bit. Haven't seen it in the flesh yet so could be converted. :)

There are some Sharp models that are specifically optimised for PAL standard def pictures.
