LOW PRICE AIRFARES TO THE US on ORBITZ £197.00

Let me start by saying that I am not taking credit for these offers.

There was a very hot deal earlier this week (http://hotukdeals.com/forums/showthread.php?t=233960) that many people used to get very low fares for return trips to the USA (£130 to £180)

Most using the thread used expedia.com.au to get the prices however they were also advised to use Orbitz.com The original thread has been expired because most of the deals from Expedia have now gone. When I complain to the moderators that the Orbitz links are still working, I am told that Orbitz should be started as a new deal.

So credit to dxb83 for the original thread.

Prices are quoted in US dollars, use http://www.xe.com to get current conversion rates.

Deal I priced up this afternoon, London to San Francisco in May half term for £197 per person and that leaves on the Saturday! Better prices may be available for mid-week travel.

If this deal is still valid @ Orbitz, it'd be better to have a new thread and leave this one expired.
They're two different companies, two different sites and I think it'd be better to keep them seperate.

OK as this has not been unexpired i've started a new thread as requested. Please see here for the ORBITZ thread

Keep trying to select deals/dates that are 'available' on Orbitz site but then it says that 'Because flight availability can change rapidly based on traveler demand, the flight you selected is no longer available. Please make another selection'
:?
any suggestions????
missed out on expedia deals the other day so don't want to do same again.....

make sure you pay with a credit card in case the airline has gone bust by the time you are due to fly. and GET INSURANCE!

Not exactly sure where you are going wrong (or it is). I just priced up LHR-SFO for 364.89USD through to checkout.

One word of caution, after you select your outbound flight and it shows you the return options, it defaults to showing you only returns with the same airline (normally the best option) however select to see ALL flights to get the best prices.

I can see by the fact that there are fewer options on flight routes that there are less seats available (no surprise really with so much heat on these threads) so best act quickly if you find one.

Check my thread here if you want to save even more on these prices. I got Seattle for £290 return!
#15
Hope this isn't another Zooooom ;-)

Why would you get insurance? It wouldn't cover a single penny of your trip, only yourself and possessions.

Thats only the basic free insurance you get with some bank accounts. A real policy convers all kinds of cancellation and delay pay. Not sure if it covers the airline going bust you would have to check the terms.
#19
Can;t actually believe these prices. It's not like its a cheap airline waiting to go bust either. Continental, american airlines are all listed!!

Planning a New York, Florida, and Vegas trip next year. Flights work out about £300 to all destinations from manchester! Wow. I know there is a lot of waiting about... but to be honest - i aint arsed!!!!
#20
wow, great to hear people are getting really good bargains on this!

ok, Im really not being lazy, my head is thumping and im just rubbish at looking up flight info. i have friends who want to visit here (Glasgow) for a week this October, any time between the dates of 17th and 31st. They could fly to anywhere in the UK then get a cheap flight to Glasgow, but I can't find any flights from the US for under £350. They would be flying from New York, can do any airport there.

Can any kind heart here who is good at this stuff, find me a flight for less than £350 return each? I know its probably short notice, but Id be ever so grateful, thankyou!

Non of these recent deals (expedia, orbitz or the others that are linking into the NWA reservation loop-hole) have any flights FROM the US to the UK cheap unless you are starting in the UK.

OK, I got that today on a couple of options I tried. Then i did the following and it worked through to checkout. The difference in the two times was that the first I selected individual in and out flights, the last time I pressed on the blue select button for the in and out together.

I found some good prices for Easter '09, but it won't let me complete, just keeps coming up with 'the price has changed' or 'no longer available' etc.

Has anyone ACTUALLY purchased flights from Orbitz at these prices?

As mentioned already, when trying to select the itinerary the site ALWAYS responds:

Because flight availability can change rapidly based on traveler demand, the flight you selected is no longer available. Please make another selection. (Message 100)

i purchased one from orbitz a couple weeks ago before the cheap flight posts started (i posted tip in misc duh) and it went thru fine, only issue i had was with my bank blocking the transaction so my card was declined but rang bank confirmed genuine and booked again with no problem.
Have checked the NWA website and flights are all confirmed chose my seating and everything on there and got my ticket in my email, nice and easy!

I agree many of the deals are coming up with those messages, however it's worth keeping searching. I just priced up and got past the availability message and to the checkout area for the following at £207.75 for the Easter holidays. Last part although not stated below returns via Paris.

Tue, Apr 7 Depart: 2:25 pm London, United Kingdom (LHR) KLM Royal Dutch Airlines 6103
operated by Northwest Airlines -- NW 0103 1 stop
Arrive: 9:18 pm Los Angeles, CA (LAX) KLM Royal Dutch Airlines 6309 operated by Northwest Airlines -- NW 0309

I just booked return flights to Denver for 200 pounds and return flights from Denver to Las Vegas for another 100 pounds. Absolute bargain. Thanks for sharing this :)
#35
I've booked Manchester to San Francisco for £230 - easily the cheapest flight I've seen.
#36
Pleased to say it's still giving cheap flights, even if not as cheap as before. Just priced up LON/LAX in May for £223. Doesn't help that the pound has slipped from recent norms by 15%!

Wed, May 13 Depart: 9:55 am London, United Kingdom (LHR) KLM Royal Dutch Airlines 1008
1 stop
Arrive: 3:30 pm Los Angeles, CA (LAX) KLM Royal Dutch Airlines 601

Wed, May 20 Depart: 8:25 pm Los Angeles, CA (LAX) Air France 61
