Sorry to hear about them going bust. Will your holiday still be ok?

The price seems a bit high, but last year and this year, Bulgaria has not been the cheapest of late deal destinations, so it could well be about right.
Due to world events, many people are avoiding certain countries where they now don't feel as safe, and sadly Bulgaria reaps the rewards - I say sadly as I have family and friends there, and used to get cheapish late deals every year, with flight only around a hundred pounds return maximum, and sometimes a one or two week holiday for about a hundred and fifty !

:D:D:D
I know! the hotel is reasonable now but the flights are killing! lol

I've been to New York and I was advice not to come off the tour bus in certain location. Every where has crime. It is best to hear form the tour guide or some one at the hotel where are the no-go areas. It is still to wonder off in any country as if you are a resident. Play it safe every where you go. Jamaica is very beautiful and most people there are warm and friendly and will make you feel welcomed. It it was that bad people would not be going year after year. At least you don't have to be scared of being bombed in the Caribbean lol.

3 star in the Caribbean = no thank you , we stopped in Jamaica on our cruise and 10 passengers where robbed of watches , chains , rings . we love the Caribbean but not this island , its not safe anywhere .

Walking around dripping in gold watches, chains and rings is 'ASKING FOR IT' in the UK let alone anywhere else. Learn, move on and don't let it stop you traveling.
notahoarder

Negril has become a ghost town in the past few years (Was there in January for a few days) and have lived in Jamaica for years (travelled whole island) and visited 10s of times since.

I appreciate you've said you lived in Jamaica but I can assure you Negril has definity not become a ghost town! Investment is up, the number of bars and restaurants are increasing, Bloody Bay (some say unfortunately) is getting more hotels (new Royalton is latest 600 room all-inc opening later this year with a second Sandals/Beaches resort also planned between the two Rius). I've stayed there most years for a long time and have also stayed in Ocho Rios and Montego Bay a few times. Hands down no argument that Negril is much more of a resort than either of those two. Ochi is just a tourist port for the cruises with not much more than a concrete town to facilitate them whilst Montego Bay basically lives off its name and reputation from 20 years ago and needs a lot doing to it to bring it back to what it once may have been..

Looks like you just don't like Negril which, as it's all about opinions is fair enough, but to say that its a ghost town when you've been there so much is clearly not correct.

Yes Dunns River Falls is too long a day out for most, but don't forget there's the YS Falls, Mayfield Falls, the Black River, Pelican Bar, the Love Bus!, the West End with all its cliff-side restaurants, the Water Park (albeit only open 6 months a year), sunset cruises, Rick's, plus all the attractions between Negril and Montego Bay such as the Dolphin Cove (which I certainly don't endorse but it's an 'attraction'), Luminous River etc. It's also got two of the best and most beautiful beaches in the world (no exaggeration) with bars, live venues, boutique hotels and both 4-5 star family and 'adult only' resorts all along. Even Hedonism II had a big renovation recently (I believe!). A ghost town? not at all.
Ocho Rios was the port , and there was 3500 tourist on our ship and 4300 on the Royal Caribbean ship . It very very common when cruise ships come in they get targeted , as a seasoned cruiser customer and also being a frequent Caribbean holiday maker . And I follow the P&O and Royal Caribbean Facebook pages where these crimes are talked about all the time . Jamaica has the highest crime rate against tourists in the Caribbean FACT .

Somehow I don't believe the above. Jamaica have it's crime issues but robbing 10 (nice round figure) from one crew ship is unheard off. Give me the date and what port you docked in and I can check this if it's true. Was it reported to a police station?

Why would anyone want to visit Portugal with their family? Has no one learned? It's a country full of expert kidnappers, child molesters, smelly child whisperers and corrupt police officers who turn a blind eye. I know this for a fact because Clarence Mitchell said so, on behalf of two most credible doctors.
I couldn't find this offer, is it still available?

Fantastic price Rachel! Our Easter hols (Doncaster) are really early - 19th March until 2 April. We're off to California for the fortnight :)
For anybody considering this great deal, just be aware that there's a good chance your annual 'Worldwide' travel insurance policy (and car hire excess policy if you have one too) might not cover Cuba - the last 2 we've had don't, it was one of only 4 countries that's excluded.

Ooh very nice, have a lovely time. My birthday has landed smack bang in the middle of Easter weekend so with overpriced flight prices I'm staying put!

Everyone I speak to with kids has completely different school holidays at Easter!

Obama went there earlier and had no issues getting back to the states.

:D LOL!

Maybe a daft question, but does going to Cuba have any repercussions on then entering the USA at a later date?

I went to 2012 and where told that if you get your passport stamped you cannot enter the US for 2 years. it appears that it is the norm not to stamp your passport. I had to ask to get mine stamped.

A lot of Canadians travel to both Cuba and the US.

You may wish to ask the home office about the situation. Obama went there earlier and had no issues getting back to the states.
This is a good price for a Carib holiday. But just realise that Cuba 4 star is 3-2 star elsewhere, particularly for food. The AI spirits will be rotgut, no matter what it says on the bottle and Cayo is mosquito central. The beach is OK but not that special. I have stayed at this hotel, and others in CC. It is not the worst.
Heat for the price.

Dubai is pretty safe, no threat of terrorism there lol, amazing how much the media cause fear in people when you are much more likely to be killed by a family member, heck you are more likely to have a frozen block of ice fall on your head outdoors than to be killed by a terrorist attack.
Dubai was an amazing experience, it makes you think why we live in such a dump in the UK, the quality of life is better and safer in Dubai as well, highly recommend visiting once in your life, this deal is a brilliant price but it's going to be exhausting :/
do you have any statistics for 'block of ice falling on head' related deaths. I think you may have made this up :-)
You can probably google it to find out more, but it is quite a common occurrence - planes that have small leaks in water pipes will cause ice to accumulate on the outside of the cabin and if enough builds off it will fall to the ground.
i did google it. and i didn't find that many lol.https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=brit+killed+by+falling+ice&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&gws_rd=cr&ei=gjCNVtn_IIKMPcqJmTg

Some of the stuff I read about Dubai on here is incredible! Threats of terrorism! Can't drink or have fun! You'll get arrested for holding hands! Can't go with your boy/girl friend!!
It is far safer in respect of terrorism and general crime than this country and most of the places most Brits will go to.
Alcohol is widely available without issue and you can and will have an amazing time, they don't call it the Vegas of the Middle East for nothing.
It is promoted as a romantic getaway location, unmarried couples live and travel there all the time.
It's worth remembering that in this country you can also get arrested for:
Sex in public,
Public indecency,
Causing a public disturbance,
Being drunk and disorderly.
But have the same rules in an Arab country and people go nuts.
Hundreds of thousand of Brits live there with no problem.
Millions of Brits travel there with no problem.
Some Brits go and behave badly and get arrested. They get published in the Daily Mail and everyone panics, but how many Brits go to Spain, Greece, Cyprus etc and get arrested without it ever making the papers? You can get arrested in any country for being drunk and disorderly or publicly indecent.
If you don't trust yourself to behave while you are on holiday then don't go, but don't peddle misinformed rubbish about it. And for people who like to say "oh, but the law says..." you can find authority in England for laws that also say:
You can't be drunk in a pub,
You can't sound your car horn in anger,
You can't write on a bank note,
I've never been to Dubai, but have been doing a fair bit of research and what you are saying seems to be mostly correct. If you behave yourself and don't draw attention to yourself by getting bladdered or causing a public disturbance then you will be fine. That said, I feel it would still be pretty imprudent not to look into the laws you could be breaking, as some of the punishments can be pretty stiff by western standards. (This unfortunately seems to apply extra to homosexual couples). It's easy to see why people have genuine concerns about visiting places in the middle east.
It's always good to be aware of the laws of a country, but the problem with just googling laws or only paying attention to newspaper stories is that common sense can go out of the window because of one or two high profile cases. People end up thinking that all the Dubai government wants to do is throw you in jail, that's the last thing they want as they need the tourist industry.

You've been to Dubai, and you like it, I get that. But people are always going to be sceptical about a an area of the world that has a poor record of human rights abuses.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Human_rights_in_Dubai
You have to understand, that a lot of people pay attention to reputable websites and media sources. Some also pay attention to less reputable ones. You're just a guy that we don't know, posting on HUKD. So no matter how ridiculous you say some of these posts are, a lot of human rights abuses do take place in Dubai, and that puts people off.

Thanks for that SixFeet, it's always good to hear a good honest review from someone whose been there first hand.

No problem. Quick amendment, it was July 2013 I went. Head still in 2014.

For a 3* it's sublime. For a young couple on a budget it was fantastic. I prefer apartments over hotels as often like having a drink before going out for a meal or a few cocktails. Playa De Las Americas was really good for young couple. Plenty of quieter, nicer bars for a lovely local beer and a cocktail off the strip. Lots of lovely restaurants close to these apartments and the beach. Big supermarket couple mins walk and bus stop for loads of the excursions 5 mins walk.

Couldn't leave without mentioning Papagayo Beach Club. Although at the very end of the strip it is a million miles away from what you expect from the rest of the strip. Fantastic in the day lounging on the white leather sofa and beds having a cocktail overlooking the Atlantic and at night plays chill house music, totally open top. Like something from Ibiza. Even had a Saxophonist accompanying the music. Was fabulous!
Same here.
Booked holiday.
They then rang hour later demanding extra £60 as "flights had gone up during the process time of booking online"
Never again.
I think if you look hard enough you'll probably find problems with every retailer. It's just a question if the company is consistently poor.

Anyone with good experience of LCH?

Our family of 8 have just spent Christmas in Los Cristianos (Paradise Park Resort & Spa) after booking through LCH. Didn't have any problems at all. Looking forward to spending Christmas there again next year.

Someone above mentioned about LCH ringing them up increasing the price due to the flights going up. Many other travel agents do this too, we booked through Travel Republic last year and they did that exact thing when there were 12 of us going.

Cold for me. Considering the fact Low Cost Holidays moved its HQ to Mallorca this should be way lower. Any holiday bought with them isn't ATOL protected and relying on Balearic (Spanish) rules could be a bit tricky. Make sure you have your travel insurance ready in order, before you book with them.

Edited By: markinldn on Feb 01, 2014 06:28: one word missing
I lived in Milan for a while and yes it is expensive. Also the weather in Feb is still cold and can be damp too. I don't know this hotel but the public transport is good and reasonable (like the wine and coffee) and should get you into the historic centre quickly. However, Malpensa airport is quite a journey too. As regards sights, there's much art and architecture (da vinci's last supper is a mural on one of the churches), heaps for fashion addicts and of course the opera house of La Scala. The centre itself is not huge and can easily be crossed on foot if need be. There's also the marvelous food (again not cheap) but you can console yourself with the superb local tradition of aperitivi-basically free food in bars around 5-9pm provided you buy 1 drink.
The transfers to Milan will cost £14 each way by the way.
My Mum and Dad have been to Milan when my Uncle lived there for 4 years. It's a wonderful city with fascinating architecture, fabulous shops and great Italian culture.
Milan is a rubbish place to go on holiday. If you want to get the feeling if going to Milan, just go to a run down part of UK.

This hotel is fine. I have been twice (yes I went back a second time) It is basic but clean. Wouldn't recommend eating there but you are 5 minutes from bars / restaurants
You don't need check in luggage for 7 days holiday. You don't need transfers because it's often cheaper or only slightly more expensive to hire a car for the week. Yes, the hotel is not great but I would not stay all day at the hotel. You could visit the towns and beaches, go horse riding, quad bike, kayaking at Lagos etc. So again, hire a car if you have a drivers licence. Remember it's £74.
My god, look at that picture.

Looks like a Russian Post-Apocalptic film.
just remember the add ons with low cost holidays - luggage, taxes, credit/debit card charges - can add upto a fair bit but look online for voucher codes.
You don't need baggage allowance for 7 days with a little forward thinking you can easily do 14 days on 10kg hand luggage. Car hire starts around 50 quid for the week which waves the need of transfers and gives you the freedom to escape that horrid hotel. So still cheap.

hehe was there last year in feb, warmest winter they had had for a while, never got above -15

Better than Andorra this feb, -15 and snow blizzards. Brilliant skiing even on the roads (even the cars joined in) :p

Ah well we had it the year before bout time the Spanish got some lousy weather ;)
and unfort. Estonia has no hills to speak of so skiing was out, the main draw is Tallin old town which is amazing and well worth a summer visit

we are going as we have heard amazing things about the Christmas market in the old town, if its anything like Budapest at Christmas I can't wait :D
