I posted this a week ago which is cheaper than the original post http://www.hotukdeals.com/forums/showthread.php?p=1647681#post1647681 and ended up with frost bite  so this will probably be chilly too, however knowing HUKD these days you never know:roll:

That Tekheads price seems a steal unless p&p is extortionate.
Hm, i think there is cheaper at tekheads for example

AMD Athlon 64 X2 dual-core 6000+ processor £79.25 delivered

Processor - AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual-Core Model - 6000+ Taking into account delivery charges this is by far the cheapest I can find for this CPU. The same CPU at ebuyer is £92.99.

UK Deals Dave
It's an OEM processor - scroll to bottom (notes)

http://www.cpu-world.com/CPUs/K8/AMD-Athlon%2064%20X2%206000+%20-%20ADX6000IAA6CZ%20(ADX6000CZBOX).html

I always buy retail CPUs as a three year warranty and heatsink / fan are a small price to pay...however CPUs are very reliable today and most people buying these would probably buy their own cooling solution anyway.

I will point out that this processor uses alot more power than an Intel Core 2 Duo equivalent (Athlon X2 6000 - 125W / C2D E6750 - 65W)...its not as efficient. Please no AMD vs Intel wars ;-)

A good price especially for people on low end Athlon X2s (3800/4200/4400) on Socket AM2 motherboards wanting a decent upgrade. As already mentioned this is not for Socket 939 motherboards. I do not know if lowestonweb have a good reputation mind.

Hixxy22 - if your motherboard is AM2 then please make sure that your motherboard can support it (should do). Usually some motherboards need a BIOS update to recognise a newer CPU (especially if released months after the board came out). This is more of an issue with motherboards with Intel processors however.

I would recommend finding the motherboard manufactuer (e.g. Asus/Gigagyte) and model number of your board, then going to thier official site and checking CPU support list.

Also there was an X2 3800 released for Socket 939 and then Socket 940...as suggested download and run CPU-Z

Woow, 65 watts more electricity, this means £30 electric bill a year if used 12 hrs per day.
However in the winter months we needed the heat anyway to keep warm so say £10 of the £30 is used to offset the gar bill!

This is a good cooler for the price mate...

same fan as me. and a sharkoon 120mm case fan too.

set both to run quiet via motherboard and the pc faintly whispers!

Mine just arrived - despite the web site saying {under at a glance section) it is designed to fit in the same 939-pin infrastructure as single core processors, it is AM2 and the invoice also says skt AM2. So now I have a brand new processor than doesn't fit my A8N-SLi motherboard.

Did anyone actually read my posts???!!!!! :? where's a brick wall when you need one?

I took all that time and effort trying to help and to make it CLEAR to potential buyers looking for a decent CPU upgrade.

I feel sorry for the OP to be honest...I only helped because I have good knowledge of PC hardware

Look back at my posts and you'll see that I did mention that this CPU is AM2 only NOT Socket 939 and that they've probably cut and pasted the generic marketing info from somewhere without even reading it first. Btw I have the same motherboard as you - again the fastest processor this can support is a Socket 939 AMD Athlon X2 4800 which is now discontinued....and only available on eBay for a small fortune.

says £90 now, ive got an oppy 170 but its time to move on to quadcore systems.

Who cares if it's the amp! or not ???
All 8800GT's are made by the same manafacturer using the same parts at the moment. I bought an inno3d one, and flashed it with the top amp! bios.
Now runs at 2000/700. Gives me 13000 3d06 marks :)
Just get the cheepest one you can!
I am not too bothered thats its non AMP to be honest.
Got mine today, Non Amp version Noted that they have changed the specs on their website to specs of standard version. Picture of item however still shows the AMP version. I have sent E-mail regarding this awaiting a responce. May I take this oppurtunity to apologise to anyone who purchased card from my first post. Posted in good faith pics and spec were clearly the AMP edition of this card.

Does it take a while until this deal I posted appears on the main page, 'cos I can't see it yet. ?

Weither or not a deal gets onto the main page depends upon the temperature of the deal.

I think (but I'm not entirely sure) the deal needs to get to about 60 degrees before it goes on.

Nice idea, but really the usb hub/reader/ipod dockshouldn't add anything much to the cost, maybe £10 at most. It looks like they're charging £100 extra instead over similar models.
I like Viewsonic I have a 17" TFT one thats at least 7 years old running as an extended desktop. Not sure now but their onsite service was terrific, run by a relatively small "family" sized company.
Make sense to have them on the front - you probably wouldn't use it for things that are connected permanently, it'll be more for connecting your camera, memory stick etc. Having to fumble around the back of the monitor to connect them isn't much better than having to fumble around the back of the pc instead.
the dock and the additional ports are different issues though, the iPod in front is fine.
Think so.. wont look good to have the ipod dock at rear.

Dont forget quidco!
Always something else on the horizon, need to draw the line somewhere though.

Personally I always upgrade to a second hand previous generation card when people upgrade. Don't see the point in having the latest in greatest especially when its a graphics card which dates the quickest in any system.
Of course the 8900 series will arrive, as will R600, and the R700 etc but that's really besides the point isnt it? Why are people voting it cold?
jocksteeluk
this is good price but what you have to remember is the 8900 series card (which will replace the 8800 series as the top spec) are out at the end of march and the do have a better spec, so personally i am waiting till march end when the 8800 series cards are no longer top spec and drop further in price.

Agreed. If you're just toying with the idea of buying a DX10 card, rather than actually needing one right now, you may as well wait for the 8-Series refresh (and indeed the new Radeon in Q2).

That said, it's still a great deal and the WHQL drivers for Vista seem to work at last

Whats the best sort of DVD writer to go for for burning DVDs and the best media to use?
I recently tried burning a few videos I had on my PC to DVD and I managed to do my first 3 or so and then about the last 4 have all F**ked up.

Prob not the best place to ask, so if anyone knows any decent forums where you can ask.... Many thanks.

however i use the Pioneer 111, along with DVDShrink, Nero and datawrite platinums and have had no problems.

D-subminiature is VGA, yes. You can get VGA to DVI convertors but it won't be a true DVI picture then.
I am looking at getting the Samsung 205BW - yet I am not literate with the connections.

So far I know I need to use a VGA XBOX 360 cable to run it through the monitor and a DVI cable for my PC to run through the monitor.

My PC doesn't have a DVI port so I need to know the best way to connect that...

Also, is D-Sub the same as VGA?

:?
boonkoh

As a comparison... the Samsung 20" 205BW Syncmaster is selling around £195 in Pixmania and PC World (excl. shipping). I would say the quality on the two screens would be about the same.

Picture quality wise you are probably correct but the Samsung supports HDCP and so when (if) DRM becomes compulsory on HDTV, you will be able to play it back on the Samsung but not on the Iiyama. It is one of the few cheap screens which has this feature.
Hmm... so its either ~£250 including DVI, or this £199 with no DVI.

Also, don't forget free shipping, and 4% quidco, making this possibly £192.

Decent price for a 22" Iiyama. Does anyone know if this comes with the standard 3 year iiyama warranty?

Echo all the good stuff about the mouse (no idea on the seller) - great for laptops, but you wouldn't want to be using it all day every day...it is significantly smaller than a normal mouse.
