All 3 volumes with a total running time of 300mins

Synopsis:
The ability to see the threads that bind everything and to be able to destroy anything just by severing it is known as the Mystic Eyes of Death Perception. Shiki has such a power, or would that be a curse that he must endure? Thankfully, he was given glasses that can seal this curse and he was finally able to live life normally... until now.

When Shiki is strangely attracted to a woman and unwillingly kills her, his life takes a strange turn in that he didn't actually kill her... After all, it takes more than a simple cut to kill a vampire...

Quotes:
"Overall, I highly recommend the anime. It has a very Gothic feel and is better than most vampire animes out there." - Animetique.com

Next cheapest and in stock is £14.99 at play.com, the hut group (Zavvi, sendit, asda entertainment, etc.) are advertising it at around £11 but are listing it as "Usually dispatched within 3 days".

Indeed it does, particularly at that price :-). I've not seen it (yet) myself but the reviews I've seen look very positive and few folks I know have recommended it too.

Hot and ordered, thanks OP

Sorry - I should have posted this as a deal myself when I posted about it a few days back http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/anime-dvd-s-starting-from-1-89-deli/845480/#post10311231 - thanks for posting.

I ordered mine at around 01:00 on the 7th and it arrived on the 8th - probably the fastest dispatch and delivery I've ever had.
I've not started watching it yet; but at £2.99 I don't think I'll be disappointed.

Excellent :D. Must confess I hadn't actually noticed that. Guys, show some love to wombat6025 for spotting it first :)

For those who don't know anime-on-line, or aren't sure about them, the site's owned/run by MVM Entertainment who are an award winning UK based Anime licensor/distributer. They are responsible for bringing titles like: Ah My Goddess, Battle Vixens, Black Lagoon, Burst Angel, Fate Stay Night, Gungrave, Haibane Renmei, Love Hina, Paranoia Agent, Samurai Champloo, Witchblade, etc. to our shores. So you should be in pretty safe hands.

MVM(Animeonline) don't have an automatic payment system, they have a cardholder not present transaction where they manually enter your card details to authorise the transaction.
Must admit. I stopped buying from them after my card was used fraudulantly, pretty much happened twice. Each time after ordering from them, after I stopped buying from them, I had no one trying to speand hundreds of pounds on my card in random shops/online stores.
Okay, so its not their fault if they have a dodgy employee or two but I was burned twice so..

I thought I was the only one that had had this happen to me.

They have a great site but its happened twice to me now and I dont know if I'll ever order from them again.

I asked on an anime forum if anyone else had had problems with them, and everyone said no. If I had know there were other people I would have sent an email to MVM.

Edit: If I remember right the first time was about nov 2009, and the second time it happened was about may 2010.

I've had problems with a couple of debit cards after ordering from them too, I wouldnt like to say that it *is* them but i have made a conscious decision even prior to reading this thread not to use them again.

Its a shame as (in the most part) they are a good helpful company and they do have a lot of nice things and i hate to stop using them.

as for the actual deal, I read the first part of the comic of this and found it pretty unpleasant so its not for me but it is a great price. heat added.
#16
Okay so that's four people with card theft problems, I'm getting kinda worried now.
#17
Don't panic too much, its not necessarily them, in fact if it wasn't down to the fact that i cant handle going through the card ordeal again (and i'm still £114 down after the last session)i'd rather it *wasn't* them.

I notice your post on animeuknews.net is the top hit in Google for Anime-on-line fraud, and interestingly the only one I could see listing a problem (although I only went through a few pages of results). SiteAdvisor thinks they're ok: http://www.siteadvisor.com/sites/anime-on-line.com and I know plenty of people (myself included) have used them for a while without issue.

Perhaps the small site is unfairly getting the blame for problems elsewhere? Either way I'd say it's definitely worth contacting them, I'm sure we'd all be interested to hear what they say about it.
#19
Well I've sent them an email and hopefully if they haven't already found the cause of the card theft they will now.

Yup, and when we do it often goes unnoticed as not enough people realise it's a decent price for anime.

Great price, thanks.

Yeah - I'm kinda worried too...

I know HUKD has a pretty large footprint; but for four folks to report an issue it seems pretty serious.

... and like a moron I forgot myself and used one of my 'main' cards so cancelling if there's a problem will be a real pain :(

Is this dub or sub?

MVM releases usually have both, I'll let you know when it arrives.

My version is the individual volumes and it has both subs and dubs. I would think this is the same.

A pity if people have problems ordering this. I actually liked this Anime. Not the best, but where else can you see a series with a decapitation right at the very start!
suspended#28
love this anime, would buy this but i don't want to risk my card details being taken.

This is £11 at lovefilm and £15 from play, £3 is super if u trust the site. Shame they don't use paypal otherwise I would have bought one without evening thinking about it.
#29
Was also just about to press the button...me a scaredy cat.
#30
If you're worried about card details they do take cheques and plenty of folks have used the site without issue.

There's every chance that the four incidents above are coincidental and not actually linked to amine-on-line. Banks, in my experience, do not and will not tell you the source of fraud so these are peoples opinions of where they think their fraud problems come from.....The site is also run by the countries largest amine distributer (according to wikipedia) so I'd be extremely interested to hear their response to cantstraferight' squery.
#31
I've just ordered from them once with no probs, ordered this as well so will see but even if there is a prob my bank is good at sorting it out.

If the four peeps here who have had probs with them ordered around the same time, perhaps because of a deal posted on hukd, then maybe they just had trouble with their systems or with an employee at the time but have sorted it since.

It's Japanese 2.0 or English dub 2.0; English Subs.

I wish I could be dual-audio; my brain doesn't process languages; so I can't tell you how good the subs are! The minute or two of dub I listened to was pretty good - the voice cast seemed to be putting some effort in at least ;)

I've bought from Anime-Online before with no problems; but I do wish I'd not used my main card just in case there are issues...

I got an email from MVM today.

Thank you for your mail and notifying us of your concerns.

The anime-on-line site is on a dedicated server, (not shared with others as is common) and hosted by a large and UK based ISP (Melbourne). Equally our software providers are large and well respected (X-Cart).
We and our service providers have taken all steps to investigate any alleged breach of security but are at a loss to see how any such could happen, particularly as card details are not held on the site after transmission.

In any event we have commissioned X-Cart to undertake a full security sweep of the e-commerce software.
We have upgraded our server to a brand new and more powerful model.
We have taken on a security management contract with our ISP for continuous security update and monitoring.
The new server will go live this week and you may find the shop closed for one day.

All this has cost several thousand pounds and I hope demonstrates that we are serious about any security issue with our store which has in excess of 10,000 users.

Please feel free to post this information.

We have maintained an off-line transaction method because many orders are pre-sale and months in advance. Or for imported items that may be delayed. We pride ourselves in never billing a card until we ship. On-line transactions are instant and cannot accommodate this.
Only two trusted members of staff ever get near any card information. There is no internal issue.

Best regards

Tony

That's actually a pretty good response, much more detail than most would give, well I think so. They're doing all they can it seems, have checked for issues etc. I think I'm happy to keep using them, but I will keep an eye on ye olde statements just incase (well I do that anyway....).

What do you think?

We have had four reports of issues here:

I'm guessing that in his query to MVM cantstraferight referred to this thread and it does look like they may have responded directly to his query with the security sweep, security management contract and perhaps even the server upgrade. It's also possible these upgrades were already planned or that they've had a number of complaints that have caused concern.

It seems they are taking the concerns raised seriously and obviously I and thousands of others have bought from without issues in the past.

Just to make clear, we don't know that purchasing from MVM was the issue; but if we assume it was their reply rules out staff fraud which would put the fault on the online shop etc. so the measures they are putting in place would help.

As meglomaniac says it's a pretty good response and I'll also keep using them (with a very wary eye on statements).

Well I for one feel better now, thanks for posting that cantstraferight, much appreciated :) They obviously have taken your concern very seriously and given a very in depth account of all their online security.

Having put off buying from this company for some time (just didn't know enough about them), and then finally taking the plunge on Friday (after a what the hell moment); I was a little disturbed by some of the comments on here regarding card fraud.

However, stuff just delivered today (Wed). Sealed copy in good condition. So far so good.

Thank you cantstraferight for chasing up the concerns raised on this thread and for publishing MVM's reply.
I agree their response is detailed and does inspire confidence.

I shall keep an eye on my cc statements, but then I do this anyway.
Hopefully, all will be well, and I will keep an eye out for more bargains on their site.

[ASIDE] I know in America some CC providers have systems in place that enable single use numbers (effectively a disposable card / account) that can be used for one transaction only. Anybody know if any UK companies offer same? [/ASIDE]

Prepaid cards and cards with single use numbers are available - (I've used them to avoid Ryanairs credit card charges in the past) - but I don't know whether you could use them at Anime-Online as for they don't use an automated system.
