#5

#7

#9
even half price way over the top prices
#10
Sure some other HUKD members remember that last year they were *almost* giving these away online after Christmas.

Admittedly the totally christmas themed ones are no use after the event but some of the others were massivley reduced.

Dratty,

I think one of the top supermarkets are doing Christmas dinner for under a tenner!! Ebenezer??? LOL!!

I'd have to agree. The Percy Pig one that we got last year was poor, but the "family baking hamper" we got was absolutely woeful with just a couple of packets of cake mix and a mixing bowl. Wouldn't have been worth £5 never mind the £25 they were asking. Both got taken back for a refund.

Looking on the website, things don't look to have improved much. Port & Stilton £30? Having a laugh!!

Chocoholics hamper - £50 contains:

* Chocolate Box cookery book
* Milk Chocolate Florentines (150g)
* Fairtrade Drinking Chocolate (250g)
* Organic Fairtrade Dark Chocolate Bar (100g)
* Mini Marshmallows (175g)
* Belgian Chocolates (310g) - Some Belgian chocolates contain alcohol
* Fairtrade Rich Chocolate Truffle Sauce (320g)

Buy the items separately and you should have change out of £20 :x

False economy, I still have jars of obscure slop in the cupboard from last year. You pay for the basket and overpriced products.
#14
Homemade hampers are much better and you can give a more personal touch for a fraction of the cost of those ones.:thumbsup:
#15
Have Tesco stopped doing Xmas Hampers? Got some stunning bargains from them last year...
#16
Rip Off,even at half price.

Totally agree. Need at least 75% off to make it even worth considering.

People should wait like last year and then after Christmas the prices will fall to bargain prices again ..........Probably :whistling:
#18
Wait until the sales from Boxing Day. You'll get a bigger discount than 50%. I did last year.
#19
No good if you want to give it as a christmas present. I presume some people think it is a good idea as it is at 200 degrees already.:whistling:
#20
Be wary of sell by date, got mine 2wks ago and had a very short bb date.
#21
This will be another 25% or more off in a week or so, just like last year.
#22
They are very good for sitting on Calton Hill on NYE watching the fireworks

I was given an M&S hamper 6 years ago - I still have the festive tea leaves in the pantry - didnt really fancy spiced tea then and still dont now! The wine and biscuits went pretty quickly - the rest was eaten because it was there and we felt we should use it!

As a few others have said - make your own with the things you know will be eaten - that way the 'giftee' doesn't end up with a tin of finest 80% cocoa chocolate coated herrings, red wine infused with pork and bananas and a jar of cherry, ginger and lark vomit chutney.

I made my own from all M&S food and did a lot better than what they are offering and only spent £20, thier hampers look well overpriced
#26
We bought an M&S hamper for our parents 2 years ago - they kept the basket and now return it to us every year for it to be refilled 'personally' - we visited M&S a few weeks ago and spent less money than their current £75 offering (which seemed very poor value for money) but got so much more - seeing this half price offer only confirms that we have done the right thing.

agree, im making my own hampers

These are great if you need a last minute gift but beware if you order online, we ordered 4 when the prices reduced last year. 3 were the percy pig ones with bowls (every one chipped) the last one arrived with a completely damaged box and was dumped on the doorstep in full view of the entire street. When I complained they replaced it but did exactly the same with the delivery of the second one and then had none more left for exchange so we were stuck with it. They did give us some measly compensation but nowhere near the cost of it. Crap!

:giggle:

I particularly like the sound of the lark vomit chutney

Cold from me I'm afraid, over-priced food in a posh box. Hot deal if you were going to buy one anyway, I guess, but can't imagine why.
#34
I think this is a good deal - heat added! If you are wanting to send a hamper to the other side of the country then these are cheaper than making one and sending it yourself due to the weight.
#35
thanks, ive been struggling to get a present for my old dear. this should do the trick
