Couldn't beleive this when I saw them putting £1 stickers on everything in the sale section.

I picked up the suit jacket & trousers mentioned on here at £24 for just a pound, plus a few other bits like a couple of pairs of jeans and another dinner jacket.

Original price for the 5 items I got would have been over £300, cost me £5 lol!!

This was in the Brentwood store and I can't say what'll be left as some people were just removing entire racks of cloths :evil

EDIT - Added pic of my reciept for anyone thinking this is spam :P

I returned a suit which I bought for £99 (cost £180) in sale. They put a sticker of £3. I begged to sell it back to me. But, they said it is against the policy.

Going to have to check this out at the one near me - thanks for that. :)

He he that was another way of saying 'I want to buy it later'.

But seriously, that is against policy of M and S, so they weren't lying.

Hi

Just thought I would mention that Oxfam are currently giving away a £5 M&S voucher to every person who donates an item of clothing that orginally came from M&S (they say that the quality of their donations has been dwindling recently and they see this as a way of encouraging people to donate some "good stuff").

So, why not pop into M&S and buy some £1 items - then go into a few Oxfam stores and donate 1 item at a time (remove the tags to make it look pre-owned) and receive a £5 voucher each time!

Hope this helps someone!

I was in the Brent Cross store earlier today and there seems to be nothing on "clearance" available. Not sure which stores these are in.

I will personaly find it very difficult to do something like this with a charity. I just can't make money out of an organization set up to help those in need.
#18
Kamizuri
you would pretty much be ripping off a charity..

?
#19
The £5 is off a purchase of goods in M&S over the value of £35 - no sign of a charity being ripped off.

Title is very misleading. It implies that EVERYTHING in M&S is £1.

I hope this was posted with tongue firmly in cheek. I'm all for a bargain but not by ripping off charity shops. Better idea is to go buy a tenners worth of stuff give it to Oxfam and don't ask for vouchers. Use your bargain finding powers for good!

I think you are missing the word clearance. I don't think things are quite so bad for them to turn into Poundland!

Lori, please don't do that. This forum is not about ripping off charities.

The people who have said that it would be 'ripping off a charity' to do as someone suggested re. Oxfam have missed the point:

1. You'd be providing Oxfam with brand new M&S products to re-sell.

2. Those coupons - which are handed on to you by Oxfam - are something which M&S are providing to Oxfam as part of their 'corporate responsibility' commitments. It's just a coupon to get £5 off at M&S when you spend £35 - it isn't an actual gift voucher or worth anything. It didn't cost Oxfam a penny.

lol ripping off charities :) Whatever next ... robbing banks?

Everyone please read the thread - this £5 is to be used off a £35 purchase at M&S - presumably M&S have given these to Oxfam, just like vouchers you might find in a magazine or with a purchase in store - how on earth is a charity being ripped off???!!!

My daughter went to Glos store and it was the same,Bra's 50p,kiddies shoes £1 etc....but that was last week sometime.
I did'nt post as it looked like a local offer....maybe it's by date, like the Boots stores, they have the clearance on certain days at certain stores, worth asking or phoning to check....
:whistling:Oh Tesco are doing the same, well Tesco Silverburn is?did? On the 75% off racks all marked down to a £1.....not sure if still going as this was @ 7am on Wed morning, and it was all ladies items, tops, dresses etc.....

Will people please stop accusing Lori of suggesting that a charity be ripped off!
It's a coupon. A COUPON!

It was actually a very good suggestion, that unwanted stuff be given to Oxfam to re-sell - and getting a £5 discount from M&S thrown in (by M&S) does not make it unethical.

Sorry, I thought the clearance bit would cover it, but I can see what you mean so I've added that it's just sale items now ;-)

I think there maybe some kind of offer on at some charity shop, the shop assistants were telling everybody to take the tags off if they planned on going to the charity shops as people often try taking the stock back to M&S for a full price refund! No idea how that could work but apparently it happens:thinking:
#32
What on earth is wrong with people?
Are there some people so quick to jump down someone's neck, they don't read posts properly?
NO ONE WOULD BE RIPPING OFF CHARITY!
If you donate an M&S garment to Oxfam, you could get a £5 voucher, for money off a £35 spend in M&S. And the problem with this is?
THEY ARE NOT GIVING YOU £5 OUT OF THE CHARITIES POCKET FOR GIVING THEM THE GARMENT.
#33
Its really annoying. People on here about the charitys. They will hunt all over to find the best deals on here. The stores are making negative margins. And they snap it all up like vultures. But one mention of charities and suddenly their concience comes back into play. . .

Advice, read the post properly before posting!
#34
Booooo!!!!!!! Work just near the Oxf St branch so popped in a few mins ago. ****** all on sale here for the mens stuff anyhow. :viking:
#35

#37

#38
