Good luck to anyone sraching for any of these offers in store.

These deals are ok but you cant have potatoes AND veg - its either one or the other eg wouldnt fancy roast chicken and parsnips without any potatoes or roast chicken and potatoes without another veg.

Wow this is the nicest selection yet!!! Thanks for posting. When I bought this before I didn't realise that there was an option of orange juice rather than wine, I'll for it this time. :)

LJM, what do you want, blood, lol. You could buy the lasagne or either of the moussakas, you wouldnt "need" potatoes then, as they are rich enough, and just have some veg with them. It's still an excellent offer.
#12
you have made my day. every time they have this offer I go every day of the £10 deal, the puddings are the best, esp when they have the lemon souffle.
#13
This is a great deal, thanks
#14
Last time I remembered, orange juice was not a wine :)
#15
Can't believe they can do it so cheap.

These meals are great. Going to stock up as they are freezable. You never know when someone drops in. These are ideal.

My goodness, some people are never happy ;-)

We always have potatoes and carrots as staple items anyway, don't most people?

BTW, when I bought a chicken worth £7 on the Friday of the last deal, the sales assistant told me that on the Thursday they had been selling huge ones worth up to £10 as part of the deal. Shame I can't get there tomorrow.
#17
Go to Iceland and get your veg for £1 if you really want the potatoes :)
#18
how can they do this for so cheap? maybe the quality of them isn't that great. if i was getting this i would deffo opt for the oj, as m&s wine is ****
#19
voted cold as they dont deliver it cook it and eat it for me :)

and theres no gluten free option or lactose intolerant
#20
think i'll get this to treat the other half , then hopefull i'll be forgiven for going to a footy game on his birthday ! :giggle:

It's the same stuff they normally sell so good/the same quality. The wine choice varies and as such can vary in quality. I reckon it's a great deal (saved £11 last time I got and was a great meal). They clearly market this a loss leader in order to bring in new custom (or get usual customers to throw yet more into the basket!).
#22
This is a fab deal. My chicken was marked at £9.85 when I bought this a couple of weeks ago, saving me about £12!! Got to get there early though - all large chickens fly off shelves.

Bargain
#23
Got one of these meal deals couple of months ago and not that impressed to be honest. Don't normally shop at M&S and was expecting better given the hype about their food. Bought a moussaka and it wasn't very good IMHO. Wine was pretty dreadful (a Spanish red).

So who pays £9.85 for a chicken? Morrison's currently doing the 'extra tasty' cooked chicken for £3.
#25
i always think about getting this when the offer comes, but never do.. do you think you get enough to feed 2 adults and a 2 year old??

i dont even think that m&s food is all that great to be honest, guess they just over price everything anyway, as there is no way a company will make a loss this often.

they won't be making too much of a loss as their stock has, what, at least a 40% margin?
#29
Last time they did this offer I bought the chicken pie (not in the offer this time though) it fed two adults for two nights and we're not small adults! They deal says for two but the pie actually served four. It was delicious even if we had to eat it two nights in a row.
#30
You know I never have seen the chickens in the offer. There is normally a stand at the end with the offer on and a small selection of things. How do I know which chicken I can have? Or is, because it is a M&S food to go, it not included?

It's the Oakham whole chicken. I think you can pick them up from the normal poultry bit as well as from the fridge ends where they put the meal deal - sure I read that somewhere either on here or mse. In answer to the person who asks who pays £9.85 for a chicken, I think you'll find that the Morrisons one is a lot smaller..... and M&S wine is generally very good, obviously some dodgy ones as with anywhere, but if you do your research they have some fantastic ones and often have excellent deals on cases in store and online. I'm always stocking up - much prefer it to Tesco, Laithwaites and Virgin wine clubs and consider myself something of a wine buff. That said the meal deal ones are not that great, I think they might be trying to shift the ones that don't sell so well perhaps. Not a big fan of chardonnay, shame no other white choice.
#32
Thanks Violetelizabeth, does it matter what size oakham chicken it is?
#33
Absolutely not, as others have said, get there early and you might pick up a massive one which usually sells at around a tenner on its own!!
#34
Amazing how many whingers there are on here!

You get a very nice selection of food and wine or orange juice for just £10, actually saving quite a bit.

For pity's sake stop whingeing, some of you. Even as you whinge, thousands of poor women and children in the Congo and elsewhere are starving and desperate for food and water . :x
#35
On the last one my chicken cost over £10 on its own!
So a chicken, roast vegetables, choc pudding and a bottle of wine would have cost over £22 but only paid £10,

Love you M&S!
#36
Great deals. Love them everytime they are on.

Voted Hot!
#37
Think there might be a little confusion re the chicken - its not a whole chicken like the ones in the deal last time - its a large chicken roast in a tray prepared so that you can just shove it in the oven - they are all the same price.
The chocs are normally £7.99 and look lush.
Puddings not all that good this time all twin pots except the hot fudge pud and fruit salad.
Just saved £24 on 3 deals.
#38
Think M&S are beginning to sail close to the wind on this one
Dont get me wrong - if you really want/need a main+side + pud + wine then you do save but not as much as they say.
Been noticing that prices of items in the offer suddenly fall after the offer
eg Oakham Chickens are now 33% off and have been for several weeks
Pork & Sage stuffing was stated @ 3.50 in the last offer but got for under 3 last week
etc etc
This time round they are claiming over £5 for the sole - sure I have never paid that for them and they are frequently 2 for 1
Really like the Whole Roast Chicken one as I can normally get 2 meals for 2 + a couple of sandwiches at least out of one chick but its the small tinned deboned one (500g) this time which is nothing like as nice.
Fraid I walked away from this weeks and simply got a 2.2kg chick for £6.50
#39
Lemon Sole
Douphinnoise Potatoes ( if you spell it)
Sponge Syrup Pudding
Chardonney

Great deal!
#40
Either these offers are very popular or they deliberately understock as when I go there all the main dishes are gone. Not surprisingly there is plenty of the wines, puds and veggies available. It's got to be a marketing exercise.
