Done that last year, and they remove items from your basket!!
I have also had money taken off my card and goods out of stock. !! but showing in stock at time of order, would NEVER buy on line again from them, this has happened to many times!!
#2
i've bought online for the last three years with no problems. Maybe I was just lucky.
#3
i never have problems ordering on-line with them, maybe your one of the 0.1% who gets the bad luck
#4
Silly question here. How'd you know what's in the sale please.
#5
pretty much everything except "new arrivals" are in the sale every year. You can check if the are in the sale before you check out.
#6

Am I right in finding that all of their Christmas Store goods are gone, including 3for2, stocking fillers, food and wine gift sets and hampers?

The links simply refer me to a page advising that all orders made now will delivered after Christmas. uh?

I use to love M&S, but 4 times in a row now I've ordered a TV from them that's showed as being in stock. Each time, on the same day that I've chosen for delivery I get an email to say that it is now out of stock. No offer of a free upgrade, no compensation for taking time off to wait on their delivery - nothing. Emailing them for an explanation was a waste of time. I got one worthless generic reply from 4 attempts. This crowd of jokers are turning into the new Cdiscount and if they continue with shabby customer service like this they'll follow Cdiscount down the pan. They are not a patch on the company they used to be.

Exactly the same thing happened to me but instead of a 19" lcd pink tv, i got a 1080p full hd 22" white, and i got the tv for £133 instead of its original price of £329 + an online gift voucher for £10, and physical gift card for £20!! I never ever email to complain, i phoned - they did leave me waiting in for 3 days though as kept sending the wrong item :x !!!

I think M&S have fantastic support, however the website let them down. I ordered 6 expensive wine glasses a couple of weeks ago, and when they arrived 2 had smashed (typical Home Delivery Network) I emailed M&S and within a day recieved an email refunding me and had replaced all 6 glasses, and sent them out with Royal Mail as requested by me. I've also had the "not in stock" problems before, their stock checker isn't up to date and reports items in stock when they aren't.

No Sale showing on the website after midnight. :-(

The trick is to buy several orders at £150+ with a few items in to get free delivery.

Then ring them up ASAP and check on whether any items are delayed / out of stock and get them to split / remove them from your order.

If you don't then your order is held until it can be fulfilled. Which if sale items will be never and so you won't get anything.

They know how to do this on the phone and this works and has done for me and I always get everything.

Same here. Several times ordered showing in stock. Then some days later advised not available. They need to update their system.

convoluted complicated and stone cold

Oh some of you lot really put a smile on my face. Firstly you are trying to buck a system to get it to work in your favour then complain when the scam doesn't work and some that say they hold baskets of items and complain when they are emptied.

For those of you who are being told your item is out of stock then complain about the stock control system the answer is simple. It is being caused by people holding items in their baskets. This has the affect of tying up stock. Then when they decide they don't want the item because something didn't go in their favour it is released. Also M&S empty the baskets periodically to free up stock for other customers so you are really victims of your own volition.

M&S have the best customer service in the world - they may not get things right every time but no one does, but at least they will do everything they can to correct matters.

just to clarify... the marks and spencers sale starts from midnight Christmas Day!
happy shopping! :-)

They've done this now for several years in a row. For me it seems bizzare to wake up early on Christmas to order sale items from M&S before opening my presents, unless you tell your OH / family you want all your presents from the M&S sales.

I thought it was midnight Xmas Eve i.e. in less than 13 hours time (time is now 11:11 GMT) and before everyone wakes up and opens their full prices Christmas presents
#31
Silly question, but how do you know if things are going to be on sale - and, more importantly, how much things are going to be?
Is everything 50% off?
Would like to get hold of a Samsung 42" TV for half their current price of £649 (which is THE most expensive price)

Thanks in advance :santa:

The post should really have started Xmas Eve / Christmas morning, then it would have been clear that it starts about the same time Santa delivers his toys to all those children, so the adults can get order their items cheaper.

I think the word Eve is confusing to many as it's short for evening and Eve as in the day before Christmas.

It starts at 00:00 25/12/2009 GMT

I echo the comments regarding poor customer service. In the last sale I had nothing delivered (told all out of stock in the sizes I had ordered) but they had taken almost £200 on my credit card. I telephoned and emailed and even wrote to Stuart Rose... All to no avail, it was nearly 2 months before they credited the money back.

Next on the other hand took money for a suit but could not supply so offered the same level of discount on any suit in stock - i.e. following the legislation set out in the sale of goods act. M&S could learn something here rather than flout legislation

Merry Christmas :santa:

had a few problems with the M&S online where they keep saying to me an item is out of stock. Then several days later i get a call and they tell me everything is out of stock. The person would called me really nice about it but the online service is pathetic. Rather than keeping your order on hold until the items are in stock at the price it was purchased from, they just cancel everything!

Saying that, i did re-order the same goods in a less popular colour (still nice), and everything got delivered yesterday.

The only real problem with M&S is that they cannot keep a real time stock control, which is really bad.

Gonna wait till tonite to vote, don't forget to use the 12.5% code, and also quidco.
