Thanks for the heads up. Bought the 32" Sony V4000 three weeks ago from John Lewis for £329 including 5 year guarantee. So that deal at least does not seem that great. We'll see....

For all those voting hot, take the time to read a cautionary tale about M&S sale's.
I for one "got" a DS ordered from them a couple of years back i think it was, only for it to be out of stock......

OK i' confused as they have an existing promotion on the V series, giving 200 quid+ tax reduction off the 37 inch making it £478 and the 40 in £575, the 32 inch has £150 off, all deducted at final check out ?????
#4
Ok apologies - yes the v series is on offer at the mo. It started early
#5
ok thats cool, so will this offer be staying around til Boxing Day ? as if i don't get one on boxing day from RS i could always get one from marks?? Although the 37 inch looks tempting? thanks for the heads up!
#6
Yes it should be as far as im aware!

the v4000 series is a discontinued model, hence why its now going cheap :whistling:

We've ordered sale stuff from M&S a number of times and, as far as I can remember, have yet to receive a full order! The last time, a couple of months back, there ended up being so much stuff out of stock that we ended up with goods worth less than £30 thus having to pay the delivery charge for a few pairs of socks! We emailed them as soon as the email reporting the out of stock items came through but they wouldn't cancel the order or refund the delivery charge!

They ain't very good. I just worked for them for 4 weeks and 1 day. I could not take it anymore, boring, nothing to do, moron managers. They took ages to pay wages and i'm still waiting on money they owe me. If its that bad on the inside its no wonder people have problems with them.

Being replaced by the v4500, which includes the new processing chip (Bravia 2).

For this price you'd be doing well to beat this set.

i worked for M&S on the Technology section for a year, but left, because I got bored of having no customers. The one thing I will say however, is that you get a 5 year guarantee on all the televisions, no matter what size or make, and you get a 2 year guarantee on anything else from the technology section, (technology section meaning the unique product number is superceded by "T04"). And its totally free, and alls you have to do is keep your receipt, no forms to fill out or nowt like that. So if your the one who always buys gadgets that "break", then its a good place to go. oh and the staff aren't on commission, so you'll usually get a honest answer, unlike curry's and places like that. Anywho, thought you all should know. Sounds like I should apply for a job again, ha!
#15
oh and just thought, the 5 and 2 year guarantee also means that you get what you paid for the item, so say you buy a telly for £400 today, and it breaks in 4 years 11 monthsish, then you phone up, or take it back to the shop with your receipt, and get £400 back!!! whereas in places like John Lewis, they used to just give you back whatever the item is worth at the time, so say your £400 telly is up for sale at £150 in 2013, then alls they will give you back is £150. well thats what it used to be about 3months ago, so don't throw the book at me if i'm wrong there and theyve changed policy.

no warranty is free - you may not pay extra for it but its not free, it will be built into the price already

If you got somewhere that does a free 5 year guarantee to price match somewhere selling the same item for less, but which only does a 1 year guarantee - surely that's the best of both worlds ???!!!

..and the same could be said for any other retailer.

Don't know about other stores but M&S staff aren't allowed to pick out the best stuff before the sale starts, at least not in our store. The only way you could grab a real bargain is to wait in the queue at opening just like anyone else. Thats the reason I get most of my stuff online, I don't want to be knocking on the doors at 5am on the 27th....yep thats when our sale starts:santa:

They might refuse to price match, as it is a different product being sold. TV with 1 yr vs TV with 5 yr.
#25
What's happened to this? The £200 discount on KDL-40V4000 has disappeared :?
#26
yep not there now, it was last night !!!!!!!!

I know that John Lewis don't. As long as it's the same TV and in stock, you get it at that price and with 5 years.

2 years ago i was first through the doors in manchester (queued at a ridiculous hour) and picked up a creative zen 30b vision (pink) for £30

There were only about 5 in the cabinet - but the staff had reserved loads (behind the counter) and lots of the ipods too. They might have changed their policies to give non-staff a fair chance - but this year I'll stay at home in the warm just in case.
#29
Yes the Ipod Classic 80gb is down to £99 - if you do get one make sure they throw in the free docking station they are doin with every classic - even if its an m&s own one!
#30
not on the website they're not

ipod 80gb's are £149

is it worth going into store?

Going by last year its only instore.
#32
The problem with M&S is their inaccurate stock availability listings on their website. It's a real hit & miss affair when it comes to ordering, especially sale items. I've ordered a batch of clothing before now, only to have 2 or 3 items not delivered with absolutely NO EXPLANATION as to why????? Of course I wasn't charged for items not delivered, but it's the principle that bothers me. Very poor indeed.
#33
Where is the ipod nano for £75 online? Might as well go instore tomorrow.
#34
Anyone see any of the iPod's reduced instore?

They werent open yesterday - open today about 40 mins ago. I wasnt mad enough to queue... lol.
#36
i've checked, the 3 stores local to me, all say that there is no sale on ipods!?

anyone confirm or deny?

Thanks
#37
I had exactly the same issues. I went into the stores in Bedford and Stevenage and asked whether they sold ipods or not and was told on both occasions that they had NEVER sold ipods!!

I wish people would confirm info BEFORE posting it up. There are far too many people that 'know someone who works there...and they said so..etc..etc..'
