Not necessarily. I've got one, and use it about 9 hours a day and wouldn't get anything else for what I do.
I've got a PC for home use, mind.

You can't delete it but you can EXPIRE it.
At least it will stop all the Apple/MS nonsense.

not necessarily...

I am no fan of overpriced apple products, but if you are a s/w developer targeting iphone and ipad markets, I think you need a decent mac development platform

need to ask yourself, are you going to recoup 2grand by getting into bed (development wise) with a creepy company such as apple ?

I must admit apple do over price their products but the quality you get from them are AMAZING

Your reply makes no sense!
Apple only use the Core i7 for it's lower spec desktops, This is a professional machine and therefore uses server chips.
Core i7's don't even have multi-processor support!

I never vote on mac deals as they make no sense to me but holy sh!t that's an expensive computer.
#16
I've been compelled to vote cold, since the OP hasn't mentioned why this is in any way a deal.... What's the discount compared to the RRP? What freebies are thrown in?

So, I suggest, build one with identical spec's for about 1/4 of the price (or indeed spend £2000 on something that will blow this away) and buy an EFi-X module and a copy of OSX and live happy in the knowledge that you have saved £1500, have a faster computer, that you can easily upgrade and choose what case / design you like.

EDIT just priced it up on a well known website, sure i could get it cheaper if i tried - £599 - with a 2.83ghz quadcore xeon, for and extra £70 you could get an actual mac pro case is you're that bothered....

what a dreadful "deal"

This is why I detest Apple, even though I kind of want the new iPhone......price will be the deciding factor and knowing Apple they will want stupid money for it like this computer made from Elvis Presley body parts....oh it's not? Why so expensive then, ah yes, that's Apple for you. The Ferrari of gadgets so they'd like to think, god I hate Apple lol.

If I had bank notes to wipe my bottom with, maybe.

The wondrous Charlie Brooker says it far better than I ever could: http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2007/feb/05/comment.media (And congratulations, Charlie and Konnie, if the rumours are true):)

About the ipad, for anyone interested: http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2010/feb/01/ipad-therefore-iwant-why-idunno

apologies - the 10% faster processor is absolutely worth paying three times the price of the X3360 I had mistakenly specced....

I apologise....

....you can build it yourself for £1000 less than apple are selling it, rather than £1400.
#22
The Mac Pro is getting a little long in the tooth now, it's about time for an update. This isn't a deal as it's the normal RRP. When I've specced Dell workstations it's been within a few hundred quid (This was on the Dual processor one and some time ago.)

For those suggesting Efix or whatever, if you are buying one of these it's probably for professional use, where stability and reliability is important.
#23
Basically with an apple computer you pay 100% more than the equivalent PC would cost for the single benefit of being able to use Mac Os, to be honest I don't know if this is a deal or not .
#24
Voted cold simply because I can't see any deal - this seems to be the standard price.
