That is a very good price especially for a UK based company!!
#2
It's not the official Apple one, which explains the cheaper price. Whether it's any good... only one way to find out I guess.
#3
Anyone tried these?

I always buy friends and family members replacement laptop batteries from a certain auction site.
Always around this sort of price and so far no complaints....after 10 months of constant usage.
Admittedly not for Macbook but for other makes, HP, Compaq etc. The price is 1/3 of the usual retail price of the originals. So ask yourself...would you get through 3 of the non branded batteries in the space of getting through 1 branded battery.....i think not!

If the original branded ones were so brilliant would they have died in the first place...i think not.

Having ebay'd it they're the same price. Is it a different auction site you used?

I bought two black ones on ebay last week. Very good quality, perfect fit for the black macbook.

New Apple Macbook 13" Black MAC Battery A1185 A1181 UK was the description of the one I bought...

Whoops, managed to get one for £16.99

Good price!
I paid about the same for a battery for my 17" MacBook Pro from eBay, took awhile to come from China but spot on.

Fake batteries are awful, i would never buy non-genuine stock. Prepaymania seem to be a retailer that stocks themselves full of non-gen stock, thats not to mention the customer service (if it can be called service!)

One to avoid guys.

Had my macbook since Jan 2008, just checked - 358 cycles, battery still 4700mah, still lasts 4+ hours browsing the web
#13
with my old blackbook the original battery ended up pretty much useless after 3 years and like an idiot i didnt purchase applecare (£60 odd for students) when i first bought it, so i bought one of those chinese batteries from ebay for about £30. it lasted a week before it completely died and there wasnt much point returning it to china for a replacement and waiting so i ended up having to pay £100 for a new official one.

i made sure i bought applecare with my next macbook and it was the last time i bought a fake laptop battery
#14
Or.. free if you have applecare :)
#15
Free replacement batteries are only on Applecare if your battery fails quickly. I believe for everything but the latest batteries (in late 2009/2010 models) it's after 300 cycles or 12 months they will no longer replace the battery.
#16
Correct robhu, Applecare doesn't provide replacement batteries. Sorry. I know since I recently worked in an Apple Service Centre handling repairs.

You're only get a free replacement under AppleCare or your 1 year warranty if the battery is faulty; NOT if it's simply come to end of life.
#17
yeah, i would resist buying replica batteries.
might save a few quid but lack performance!

Why is it important to get a black one? Isn't it hidden beneath a cover anyway? I've got a Macbook and have no idea what colour the battery is, nor does it bother me :)

Erm ... the battery on this 13.3" model is its own cover. So yes its important.
