Macbook Air 13" 128GB + 2 Year Warranty - £849.00 @ John Lewis (July 2011 version)

papasbpapasb

My last deal went to a freezing (-105). Can I beat it with this?

Main selling point is the extra year warranty - price can be found at Currys / PC World if you like that sort of thing, but warranty sold it to me!

Either way - 13", i5 with the 128gb HDD.

I guessing this is going to be Marmite.

Seems a good price. Would be very weary about buying now though, as soon as the retina display gets put in the air these will be sub £600. HOLD ON ! haha

Doubtful. The 15" Pro model has just been updated with a retina display and the cost? £1600. That, and these are the 2011 models. The 2012 Air has already been released with minor updates (Ivy Bridge cpu)

Not voting either way on this. It's a good deal for sure, but I wouldn't say it's a hot one.

    Previous model.

I'm a big Windows / Microsoft user - going to slap Windows on it as well so I can use a lot of my existing applications.

Worth highlighting these are the old models!

Getting the new ones next week and with upgraded ram to 8gb it comes at 1079£, with usb 3.0 (you need it at this size of an hard disk) and ivy bridge being much faster than these ones. I would say it's worth the extra.

The difference in speed between this and the new model are not huge and not £250 difference. This does have USB 3.0 however I'm not sure if its possible to update to Mountain Lion for free like the newer system.

Mid 2011 model... says intel hd 3000 graphics.

fab machine... have this myself and not worth the upgrade as minor changes.

I have this Air and I've owned macs since 2007 and never had a problem with a single one so warranty wouldn't be a huge plus point for me. Bought this last year on release for less than this (with the itunes giftcard as well).

As already stated, it's an old model as it's Sandy Bridge and not Ivy Bridge.

The Higher Education store is still a better deal (as you get the new model with a 3 year warranty for £859), but they can ask for proof, so not all orders go through :(. Voted hot though as this is a good price with the extended warranty.

wtf an apple product voted hot! ... isnt this one of the signs of the apolocypse from the book of revelation?
    davidhird485
Also for those not interested in the extra years warranty, it can be had refurbished, directly from Apple for £789 with a 1 year warranty. http://store.apple.com/uk/product/FC965B/A

Waste of money, you can buy two excellent laptops with bigger and better screens, more HD, better processor.

sorry its an older model, so deal definitely should be cold at this price, regardless of our sympathy to you as a poster

Going to have to agree with this recently bought the new ivy bridge macbook in the apple store with the higher education discount for £859 and has 4gb of ram, with ram part of the logic board u can't just upgrade that part later. Although i'm pretty sure its just a 1 year warranty with the store to get the 3 years you have to buy the apple care product

    Have some heat
