Great discount on a macbook pro - apple normally ensure prices are pretty constant so this is a great deal if you are in the market for a macbook.
Macbooks have just been updated too so it's a good time to buy one and this one will be plenty fast.

Now £1283
- Adidas Addict

Now £1250
- dogvilledan

Yeah, my personal rule for Apple deals is to add about 100-150 heat on them to compensate for the nay-sayers.

You will get a lot of people voting cold (as this is expensive in terms of budget laptops out there) but for those who know their Macs and for those in the market for one of the new spec MacBooks I am sure that they will appreciate this. :D
#5
Booooooooooo Hiisssssssss it's a mac!!

Shame people dont actually realise that macs are expensive and this is a good deal... i dont particularly like mac's and i understand that
#6
i was looking for a macbook and this was the best deal by far - so i bought it.
Bloke in pcworld wouldn't price match online companies and was stunned Amazon were knocking this much off it - told me to go for it as its a cracking deal!!! So I did!
#7

Good price but still cheaper for students on the HE store, £1288 inc 3 year hardware warranty.
#9
Heat and rep from me, for non HE students this is the best price available,

wow this things low spec
i havnt seen a laptop this price since like 1998

15"
2.4ghz i5
etc

A tempting offer but my little 13" MacBook keeps soldiering on so, until it dies, I just can't justify spending this amount of money.

Don't be put off by the negative comments from the PC brigade. If they prefer cheap, inefficient junk well that's up to them. Some people don't want to fight with their system and would rather have one that works simply and elegantly and which allows them to be more productive. That is why they use Macs whose machines are as beautiful as their operating system. Voted hot.

Haha the last time I put a MacBook deal it went icy cold :) glad this had kept some warmth.
Good price. Students who want an iPod cud find the higher Ed deal better.

I realise by your post you probably have learning difficulties but please do some actual research before posting absolute crap like this.

The screen size has nothing to do with the specs, you go for the size that's appropiate to you whether thats a small 8" screen netbook or a big 17" notebook, it doesn't say anything about the specs of the laptop. Although the fact it's 1440x900 resolution shows little you know about specs given that you'd be hard pressed to find many monitors doing that resolution in the 90's nevermind laptop screens.

2.4GHz I5, you must not realise this is a dual core because this is a 2010 processor, not the best on the market but pretty decent in laptops.

You only listed 2 things then said 'etc' as if your post made sense and the rest to come would flow naturally but what were you going to say, that this laptop should have at least 32GB RAM and SLI dual top end graphics cards?

Seriously. Think and do some research before you let the random assortment of fecal matter come out of your mind into a post.

Well, sorry to rain on your parade, but there is a market for high performance, portable computer systems.

This isn't really comparable to the £250 can-barely-run-windows-7 netbook rubbish you see, sorry! Yeah, you can get a comparable Acer cheaper, but let's see how well the acer works (and how much of the plastic casing has cracked and dropped off) in 3 years.

Funny thing is the guy doesn't have a clue what he's talking about, laptops were awful in the 90's, you'd be lucky to play DOOM on them back then.

Yeah, I was very lucky back then, my dad won a £3000 Thinkpad and let me use it sometimes. 50 Mhz, 20 MB RAM and a 9 inch screen. Played DOOM and GTA a treat and could manage Quake in a postage stamp sized window, those were the days!

Coincidentally, I don't think (but may well be wrong) that £1300 would buy you a portable mac in the 90's at all :D

The screen size has nothing to do with the specs

Sorry, just run that past me again...are you seriously suggesting that the size of the screen is not a valid part of the machine specification?

Good to see this kind of level-headeness on this site for a mac deal for a change. Respect my friend.

The first review on Amazon suggest that this doesn't have a 'Caps Lock' key.

Personally, I'd rather have the Apple Wheel.
#22
Just for the fun of it Link
Love it!
#23
apple site says 1500, so although I am not an apple fan (but not a hater), heat added

Will that link work for any/everyone? I added a laptop to my basket and went as far as the credit card payment page. Extremely tempted for a 13" MacBook Pro.

Reviewer is stupid, then.

edit: went to have a look.. I see what mean now. thing is, that implies that it HAS to have a caps lock key. And it's been permanently stuck down, seeing as I've yet to see a keyboard that defaults to caps :P

+1 with a ? - Im sure it would work and you get a ipod touch thrown in as well I believe (via rebate). Do they check for ID???
#27
wow 1300 quid for those specs. Apple must be raking it
#28
£1,288.98 with Educational Discount and you can get an iPod Touch for £20 & a Printer Free :-) Nevertheless this a good price from non-Apple retailer!!

First off, this is cheaper than the Apple store/competing retailers so indeed it is hot, and i shall vote this hot.

The guy has a point though Bob, its not cheap at all!. The specs are average and pretty low for this price, a similar price can get you a nice MSI or ASUS high performance laptop which involves a core I7 CPU and normally a 5870M chip which rapes the GT330m and also the build quality of MSI and ASUS seems to beat the mac :P.

I find Apple products are style over substance and for me i dont like their style too bland and basic, id rather black than white too. However as said earlier, its about the price and its each to their own so it is indeed hot.

Now lets not get into a Mac Vs PC debate because no one can win, they both have pros and cons :).
#33
Great price for this model, voted hot.

people seem to forget about the things other than the processor and the hd and ram etc.....

Things like:

longer battery life than most notebook.
lithium polymer battery that lasts longer in cycles than lithium ion.
near silent operation
thin and portable design
amazing trackpad
backlit keyboard
ambient light sensor
pretty good quality screen with high contrast ratio and very bright
pioneering design (costs more to be the first to do something)
easy access to support, just walk into a shop
no antivirus needed
less spec hungry than windows as money has been put into design and optimization

You find a laptop with the same specs and all those features for that price and ill gratefully eat my words.

Im not an apple fanboy, i can just appreciate that all those features make it worthwhile in the long run.

I do not own anything apple.
#35
well said ag227
I have always owned PC and used windows and Im a little tired of crap battery life and poor build quality even when Ive spent alot.
And there is some re-sale value with Macs where your windows pc is just straight junk after a year or 2.

Good price.

Yes, Apple products are sometimes expensive, particularly the laptops, but I've been using Apple products for nearly 10 years now and I will never return to a Windows 'PC'. The reliability of the hardware and OS X, no viruses (ok, maybe one in the last 5 years), no spyware, and the fact they 'just work' is worth the extra money in my opinion...

have not personally orderd from it , Id suggest changing the last 2 digits of the URL to a diff Number and get a diff Uni .. As i imagine quite a few people will be using this Link now ;)

It will work + no id required

Sucked to be you then in 1998 i had a pentium 233mmx
50mhz lol

and a pentium II 333 clocked at 400mhz as my desktop pc
