I think varieties stocked varies in each region, we can only get Traditional Dairy down here, I'm guessing people in Scotland get the lot.

You need to buy it at another store. Somewhere after leaving the factory it is being handled badly and geting defrosted and refrozen. Our local co-op had this problem, I think it is better now they installed new freezers with doors.

Okay, now Im baffled. Mackie's don't sell vanilla ice cream in one litre tubs. they only sell it in the 2litre ones as far as Im aware??? I just checked the site too and can't see anything on there about them welling one litre tubs of vanilla.

My favourite is the plain ice cream, reminds me of the Italian cafe ice cream from my dim and distant past!

They certainly do make 1 litre tubs and I buy them regularly. This isn't actually labelled as Vanilla, so perhaps that's where the confusion is:

According to mysupermarket, at Sainsburys only the flavours are £1.47 and again only available from Scottish stores, the plain one they sell throughout the UK is oddly £1.82.

You are right, the only one with Vanilla flavour is the "Cream of Scottish" variety, the confusion is because some people refer to the plain/traditional dairy as Vanilla when it is not.

They do not. That tub that you took the time to post a picture of is not vanilla ice cream. It is PLAIN ice cream, with no vanilla, lol. It does not say vanilla, because it is not vanilla. I know, because I don't like vanilla flavoured anything. My son does, so I buy separate tubs, I always have the blue tub. I was hoping they had started doing the vanilla in one litres, as it would take up less space in the freezer than their 2l tubs.
