Under £300 for a Sonos S5 sounds pretty good. Haven't used the company before so can't comment on what they're like. 3.5% Quidco/Topcashback

Used mac warehouse loads of times, always been reliable and very helpful. Don't know the Sonos products though so not voting.

Thanks, struggled to find opinions on MacWarehouse so would welcome people's feedback here.

Price wise the Sonos S5 is £350 at most places, was available for £320 at HughesDirect with use of code (see HotUKDeals post here), but have never seen them for sale at under £300...

leedale30 - very short sighted way of thinking.
lol macs don't get viruses - you not seen the adverts? What will you post next some magic beans or the emperors new clothes. This whole post is invalid.
2 programs for what?
It has more than just Anti Virus and has 2 programs, one for Apple and the other for Windows.

I thought it was a good deal as it was at least £25 cheaper than elsewhere.
Why pay for one when there is decent free ones out there on the web?

So your assumption is that they are mis-selling a faulty item? Don't know what's worse - to assume that pre-owned is "tat" or to assume that this company is out to defraud? :p

the truth is often somewhere in the middle :)
TehJumpingJawa;7836995
£140 actually.

So it's only 1 month old; don't need to worry about the battery being worn. Given the time-scale, it's likely the customer returned it within 7 days of purchase, so wear & tear will be minimal too.

still would'nt pay that for an acer... in my experience they never seem to last longer than a year before the motherboard goes... I have a stock cupboard full of broken ones that people have given me beacuse they cost more to repair than they are worth... it is allways the same fault, the power supply connection to the motherboard...

It certainly was never worth the alleged £700 RRP...
mumbojumbo;7837293
The item pictured still has the plastic protective film on the bezel - would that indicate to you that it had been well used?

So an item that is returned within 7 days without fault and with minimal use suddenly plummets in value?

yep, that's the optimistic assumption...but it would also be returned due to extensive noise, overheating, unexpected BSODs + lack of understanding of the problems by 'Techguys' - DSG's tech support

I have gone through that kind of problems when I bought a laptop from Dixons that was clearly affected by overheating -.The really loud fans were constantly switching on and off , every 20-30 seconds - incredibly annoying).Techguys' support did not see the problem as there was no category like that in their scripts, so I did not have a choice but send it back, still within the 7 days - guess somebody got a 'great' clearance item later on ;)
mumbojumbo;7836975
Lol at all those being sniffy about used goods for sale - I wonder how many are too proud to buy a secondhand house or car? Just because an item's been sold before or used for display purposes doesn't mean its value suddenly plummets to nothing. These products are often only available at all because customers buy and then return because they've changed their mind - should this be stopped too?

There is just a tiny difference between buying electronics with very little "real cash" off, compared to a car where I can buy one 6 months old with around 10,000 miles on the clock, and save £7000 on what the price to buy it new would be (which is what I got 2 years ago). Houses also tend to go up in value, unlike this was the price will go down.

Having seen the condition of "used"/returned stock offered by DSGi's retail arms, I certainly wouldn't buy anything like that from their business arm without the opportunity to inspect it.
TheCaptain;7836385
Second hand, and all they have knocked off is £60 from new retail...???

£140 actually.

Cold for me. It can't decide whether it wants to be a proper workstation or some glorified word processing rig.

Thats sure to get a few maccie turtle neck wearing fans sweating and shaking with rage.

Torch the PC, sell the family car to buy a mac and then want to install XP. Brilliant.
abaxas;5244998
You cant compare white box goods with supported and warrantied. The Mac Pro is a 'workstation', once you understand what that is, you wont be buying an ASUS beast master hyper fighting II turbo EX anime porn edition IV motherboard etc.

Yet this has a consumer graphics card (which matches up with your consumer comments) not a workstation graphics card so not really that great a workstation after all. Unless the warranty set up is different from the consumer models the lack of onsite support weakens it as a workstation as well.

Putting that aside this seems a strange spec having two relatively low speed processors in this configuration, the Nehalem is a native quad core and supports hyperthreading which means a single processor is already extremely capable at multithreading. For most workstation use in practice I'd think a single faster processor would be the better choice, two slower CPUs would be better suited to a server as it will normally be running a large number threads.

I take it back - it is overpriced after all ........if only their kit was as good as their marketing :? (their marketing is just superb...........)
Celticsun;5248949
I stand corrected, I was under the impression they weren't stock.
But that still explains the price of the MacPro, Apple got them first and paid a premium for them which is then passed down to the customer, so untill they have used up stocks or the initial contractual price from Intel changes, they are still gonna bang these out at a 25% overpriced mark up.

Who knows how much Apple paid for them! Even if they paid a premium I doubt they still do or it was that much. This class of machine usually has much larger margins as it’s aimed at Businesses.
Agharta;5248391
They’re just stock Intel Xeon CPUs, nothing special. Apple had access to them before they were released to other manufacturers but they’ve been available for a while now.
Scan have this CPU for £301 – Xeon E5520.
