Is the TE edition worth the £40 difference?
Will the x360 version be compatible with ikaruga and other arcade masterpieces?
#4
I have the 360 version, there is a switch to change what the joystick represents (i.e left analogue, right analogue or d-pad).

SO I would assume it will work perfectly fine with any other game.

Very much so, if you're in the market for one of these I'd say the extra £40 is worth it. The TE version has genuine Sanwa parts and is an authentic replica of the Japanese arcade machine. The regular version, while still good, is widely regarded to be of lower quality in terms of feel and performance and does not contain the genuine Sanwa parts.

Still, either stick is significantly better than most options if fighting games are your thing!

So much for this being a limited edition, though I can't blame MadCatz for capitalising on the frenzy of people buying them the first time around.

I recently sent back the regular madkatz 360 fight stick to amazon :x

Within 3 days of use it stopped registering some of my joystick movements, made executing special moves near impossible. Kinda worked when it wanted to which defeats the purpose really. Amazon did give me a refund though, not sure about returns policy for microdirect but i'd recommend you look at it carefully before ordering. Maybe it was just my luck to get a faulty one but they seem pretty common from reviews i've read. I will order a Tournament edition if they get cheaper though

Yeah, there is a widespread problem with the regular fightstick whereby a washer in the joystick is not glued down properly grinds the connections away on the PCB, resulting in it no longer registering inputs. You can solve the problem yourself by opening the stick up and gluing the washer down, but you're better off just replacing the joystick with a Sanwa one. Which, in my opinion, is why the tournament stick is far better value. A full set of Sanwa buttons and the joystick comes to over £40 including delivery from Gremlin, so not only do you pay less, but you get a nicer, bigger, heavier base to boot!

It's not worth the £40 never mind the difference.

You're so ignorant!.

very hot deal! anyone used this site before? the wireless hori sticks for Tekken 6 look interesting
#14
Hot price if you're a street fighter (or other fighting game) addict - if you aren't then it probably isn't worth it unless you are rich.
#15
That is HOT, i paid £69.99 for my SE and it was worth every penny.

This is not true. It cost me £38 for a sanwa JLF and 8 pink buttons.

yes i was thinking about this too, but there are no/little information of what components the joystick is going to use.. i know its a hori, but will it use sanwa and how good will the wireless be.. i dunno. Also £150 on pre-order :P To me its not worth it at all considering the TE is less than £100 now.

Good deal, really tempted but might wait for this to go down a little more. Got the sanwa parts ready to mod it :D

oh, just remembered think marvel vs capcom 2 is coming out, and trust me u will want a stick to play that game!

be a good idea to put the delivery price on the front, unless someone has a code ^_^

Only problem with opening it is that it does void the warranty.

I hear what you're saying about upgrading the parts - but isnt it easier (more convenient - same price) to just order an Tournament edition instead? Would cost about the same according to my calc's (for xbox TE stick)
#20
I was on the fence about it till I realised that I don't play this game so much. Even though I hate it on every system its out.
#21
I just ordered a TE (360) from play for £94 using rac code and quidco.
Cant wait till i get it.
#22
Well i guess the type of person that would claim to be a fan of fighting games would be the type of person that would spend £40 on this. Or £150 for that other one that was out.

And for those reasons, it's a great deal.

Tournament edition is still available, can the price be changed to tournament edition and thread unexpired ?

It's £86.24 for the PS3 version & £91.99 for the 360 version now, plus postage I guess.
