Mad Catz PS3 Wireless Controller.

Looking for a cheaper back-up controller for the boys christmas present - not looking to spend the £30 plus for an official Sony one. Saw these a week or two ago at £25, then last week at £15. Went in tonight to get one (ASDA Kilmarnock) and they were £7.00 each (£7.00 on shelf ticket and £7.00 when scanned).
Resisted the urge to take 'em all .... but may go back tommorrow.

Current Amazon price £19+

Good Luck.

These any good? Good price though...

I've never liked any of the third party playstation controllers. But if your after a 2nd controller £7 is a great price, even if you are taking a chance.
#3
I have no idea at all !
(A quick Google didn' show any problems.)

However I'd rather have my 6year old throwing a £7 controller about than a £35 one :)

And hey, if your 2nd controller doesn't always work as well ...... it won't be you that's using it !

An excitable boy takes every advantage he can:)

decent 2nd controller , very good price

Nice One Heat Added Will Take A Look Tomorrow

Gonna go check this out on Monday thank you

Got one of these already.. not very comfortable to hold, triggers are harder to grip and it feels too bulky.

I'd prefer to pay the extra to get the official controller..
#9
Lets face it cant be any worse than the official pad (which is terrible) its less than a quarter of the price hot from me.
#10
Thats awesome :) wish I could get a 360 controller at this price :)

Absolute rubbish.....

The official ones aren't terrible...maybe its the person using them?

These madcatz ones are bad....I got one free when I got my PS3 and they are pretty darn rubbish...mine disconnects if i push more than 2 buttons at the same time.:x

I have one of these and it's fine for a spare pad for the wife to use or the rare times I have someone round to play instead of just playing online. I wouldn't use it everyday myself but for a spare pad at this price you can't ask for much more.

Most Asda gaming deals on here seem to be store specific, i never see any deals at my local store in Bristol.
Heat added anyway.

Ive got to post, to stop people buying these, sorry op, ive got 2 of them, if they come with a usb receiver that plugs into the ps3 DONT BUY THEM, they work if you sit infront of the ps3 - anything more than 2 meters they constantly lose reception. I know the official ones are very dear, but they are worth it compared to wasting money on these.

In my experience, Madcatz are the best third party controller makers, I remember having a wireless on for PS2 which was very well made, and had a quality weight and feel about it, not sure how it will cope with sixaxis though... If I was gonna buy a third party, it would be Madcatz...
#17
I'd agree with that though, good for the kids and their friends. but i end up re connecting the controllers for them all the time.

yeah, so terrible that they've had to change the design so many times in the 15 years its been out

at a guess, but maybe its you 360/pc fanboy hands that cant hold it :whistling:

back on topic! seems a good price, but for me i use a usb to ps2/ps1 controller adapter which you can get for a couple of quid from dealextreme.
#19
I'd probably buy a couple of these as spares for 4 player games, if it wasn't for the "usb dongle" factor. Sure you can hang usb hubs off but with only two ports on the consoles (yes, bar the 60GB version, but I've got an 80...)

Really don't understand the necessity for these. (but presuming Sony's restrictions rather than the 3rd party's laziness?)

Many things don't change over the years, doesn't mean they're good. The controller (for me) is awful, nowhere near as comfortable as an Xbox controller and the sticks are awkwardly positioned and are too floaty. Best thing about them is the face buttons and d-pad.

I agree the original controllers arent as comfortable as the 360 by a long way - adding those £1.99 things that clip onto the PS3 controllers make it a lot better.

BTW, I went into Cov ASDA and these were £15.

I second that, I know its because I'm not used to 360 ones, but I cant get to grips with them... I am glad they didnt change the PS3 too much from PS2, and the clip on triggers really make a difference... much prefer the Dualshock 3 as the weight makes it feel better quality and more substantial...

Picked up two of these today and not that impressed with them. Going to take the unopened one back.
