Wii component cables are very hard to get hold of at the moment. I've been searching all over the place and found this company. I ordered one today and it's been dispatched already! They use 1st Class Royal Mail Recorded Delivery, so should reach you before christmas if you order before the 19th.

I thought I'd post this as all the gaming forums I've been on, people have been searching with no luck.

I've heard the quality of these Mad Catz cables are pretty shocking. Best to use standard Scart till the Official Nintendo cables are out.

Thanks for the tip Genk, I can safely sidestep this landmind. When the official ones come into stock at Amazon I think I'll grab it from there and, assuming the price doesn't go up, it would work out cheaper too :santa:

I've had my MadCatz Component leads for just under a week now, and I have to say, coming from your standard scart connection to this is fantastic - the difference is brilliant if you have an LCD HDTV. If you really want to look at a half decent version of Zelda this Christmas, I'd say these are your best bet.

I tried ordering gameplay.co.uk's own cables today. Says usually within a week and not guaranteed for Christmas, so I'll just see what happens. £14.99 delivered.

Where did you hear this? I don't see how you can go wrong, it's just 5 shielded cables with plugs at either end. Expensive cables and cheaper ones normally look about the same (and there is NO noticable difference getting the "premium" cables like monster) :?

I've had them on preorder from amazon for a month and a half, estimated dispatch is now the second half of February.

Are these any good for standard CRT tv's? I have a 36" one, but heard these cables are for LCD tv's only?

The type of cable doesn't directly have anything to do with LCD or widescreen or anything like that. People with LCDs generally want these cables because it can make a HUGE difference because of the way they usually work (the normal cable can look WORSE on an LCD).

If you've got component input (the red green and blue plugs) then it's the best type of cable you can use with the wii.

If you're TV can do progressive scan (probably if it's an HDTV, maybe if it's a newer SDTV) then this is the type of cable you need to get that - it looks a lot better. Otherwise this cable will look about as good as RGB SCART or s-video (can anyone find those cables?) - most TVs can do these.

Hmm, I'm not sure if my tv can do progressive. I actually use the rgb cables through the supplied scart socket. All I know is the when I bought the advanced scart cable for my xbox 360 the picture was much better. I really am waiting for a cable that has digital audio out for the surround sound.

I remember the whole Gamecube RGB fiasco, I was horrified when I bought a third party one. I plugged it in and saw colour bleeding all over my retinas. Thankfully I was allowed to return it and then bite the bullet and blow £24.99 on the official Nintendo one. Was that problem ever solved?

Can't imagine the same fate has befallen the Wii, any component will look infinitely better than the bundled clown cables.

Get a component cable if your TV has the separate red, green and blue sockets since that's the best possible. RGB SCART will look about the same if you can't do progressive but the RRP of the cable is the same.

There won't be a cable with digital out because the Wii doesn't support it. If you connect the red and white audio cables to a surround decoder you should get pro logic surround, but it doesn't do digital.
