I know this was cheaper at Christmas, but not everyone was able to nab one then (wish I had!) It is now available from play.com for £9.99. These things are really brilliant. They take the stress out of opening those cheap bottle of wine you had delivered from Tesco.

Thanks to beau_locks!

Was going cold, but why?

I bought one of these a few years ago.

Great value.

Takes all the effort out of wine bottle opening.

BUY, you will not regret it.

Thanks for this emma :)

We got one of these at xmas for a fiver. All was well and good until the wife decided to open a bottle with one of those plasticy corks and broke it. So if you do get on, make sure you just use it on the corks actually made of cork.

Will probaby get another one though as they are very good!

Err, I got one and after the last 3 corks in a row shooting at supersonic speed into the bottle, covering the kitchen (and me) in a rather strange red psychedelic effect, I gave up :?

Big, ugly and a total waste of time and money. A triumph of engineering but totally pointless. A sledgehammer to crack a very small nut.
Buy a normal corkscrew.

Do cork screws actually work? :w00t:

Got one of these at Morrisons last week £6.99 ... works great!

These Corkscrew's are now available in my local tesco's for £7. I bought one at xmas for the bargin price of £4.99 from play worth every penny:santa:

Hang on did I miss something:? I tend to use a lump hammer now to smash the neck off the bottle, as I think it is a bit safer and less messy;-)
#11
But Lambrini and belabrusco comes with a screw top, why would you need one of these?

I bought 2 of these from Play at Christmas for half the price.

Both arrived looking second hand (rusty!) and I returned for refund. Play didn't refund my full delivery costs and after a few complaint emails I gave up. Just my experience of the now 'norm' in customer service!:-(

Got 2 of these at Christmas. First one broke on the second bottle opened. Haven't even tried using the second one. Looks nice enough on the kitchen side though. :-)

I got one from play previously - and it started to fall apart after a few weeks. Had to fight with play for a refund but eventually got it. I reckon it's worth about a fiver, but not a bargain at a tenner.

Mines been fine (got it at play for a fiver) plastic and cork screws, alot easier than a normal cork screw imo.

99p stores were selling these recently.

For 99p.

My £4.99 one from xmas is still working and is used regularly!

It is ok for plastic corks as long as you take it very slowly, saying that, it'll probably break on the next one I do  .

I must say it doesn't feel terribly sturdy though. My friend has one that she bought when they used to be v expensive and she says mine is pretty much identical to hers.

The foil cutter that came with mine was shattered on arrival. Tried contacting play but they didn't bother to reply, shocking customer service from that place as always.

Picked one of these up for a fiver.

Have had no problems with corks or plastic/rubber corks. Worked perfectly, and it has been worked!

Also great for those who lack a little strength.

So recommended, but not at that price.

i got one of these at christmas for £4.99 and its in the bin already. never once successfully opened a bottle with it.

Looks great, works great made to be sold at £10, Result. Breaks great. Got one at Christmas as did many others. Broke opening a bottle of red at new year. The gears slipped would you believe.

My advice, go buy a waiters corkscrew for a about a pound and use the rest to buy a nice bottle. :-)

Got mine from play.com for a fiver, been brilliant, then again never had a problem with the old style ones......

I bought a couple of these from Play at Christmas as shopping fillers but (after problems with damaged boxes and trying to get my post refunded) I am too ashamed to give them as gifts as they look astonishingly cheap. Don't think that these are really the £119 as they say on Play.

Go to John Lewis and get one for £20 instead. Much more solid, better looking, better packaging and won't break plastic corks.

Sadly mine lasted about three months of very limited use, before it fell apart.

Useless junk (IMHO) - opened 5 bottles fantastic but it packed in on the 6th.

Would not recommend this item based on my experience.

Would not get another even at this price.
