And with the ground frozen solid and all the animals in hibernation, there's little risk of burning down Farmer Giles barn or wiping out the whole of the UKs endangered species. Everybody's happy!

Why if you dissagree with someone elses views do they lack a life? This "get a life" thing appears to be the lazy retort of the slow of thinking.

We lit some of these on the evening of my nans funeral and I got a load of abuse from my brother in law the day after about how they can destroy crops and the metal bit can kill cows?!! WTF!! Get a life!

Heat added :)
Your Nan's funeral and you tell somebody to "get a life" not blessed with tact or subtlety are you.

I have a life, thank you, I find it complete, so complete as to not need to play with fires like a 3 years old would, with all the problems that would cause too.

I would have thought that this time of year, there are enough "pretty lights" around that don't actually bother anyone.
If you need any advice on finding a suitable pastime, then I will see what I can do, but really I don't have that much time left, mainly caused by trying to instil basic common sense into adults who want to behave like children, only more dangerously.

See, that's the problem, 3 year-olds think a box of matches is a big adventure too.

Mind you from the voting on these wastes of time in recent weeks, it looks as though the message is finally getting through, and most people see it as a waste of 4 quid.

Can't beat a good argument, so the trolling always comes out. Still, at least it has gone from age 3 to about age 8 and a bit of good old fashioned name calling, also known as bullying, so it's not surprising you mentioned it.

True I suppose you're not an original poster.

My observations about your smart a****d overly personal comments stand however.

nihcaj is a long standing member of this forum, whose opinions I respect. Why do you feel the need to be personal and abusive when someone voices an opinion that happens to be different from yours?
Could it be you're just looking to have a go at someone?

These are surely a one off thing for most people anyway, what is all the fuss about?

Most things can be dangerous in the wrong hands, I personally think these are nice for a special occasion.

I agree. But many people think these things are on the edge of destroying humanity when all they are a pieces of paper. I've yet to see any evidence to support any harm they could cause...... unless as you say, they get into the hands of people who struggle with the instructions on a Pot Noodle.

If you don't look you don't see.

That's just a typical over-stated "defence," no one is suggesting these are the end of humanity, just it's not a very sensible idea, and one that is just so unnecessary anyway.

Apart from the obvious danger, which to me is the overwhelming point against them, if they were some spectacular sight, I perhaps would understand the attraction more, but something as exciting as a tiny candle light doesn't impress me in the slightest, it's not exactly a laser show or 30 minutes of spectacular fireworks, it's a glimmering candle, that might have entertained people in mediaeval times, but this is the 21st century, and things have moved on! Even a sparkler is MUCH more exciting, and at least it will be only a tiny danger to the person holding it!

Apart from examples of damage caused which I and others have quoted in posts in MANY past threads which are there, just think for a minute, why would throwing burning items into the air, which float uncontrolled and over which you have minimal or zero control NOT be a problem?
