OK - the big night is over, but these have still got to be fun? At this price anyway, a steal!

Night Glow Flying Lanterns, also known as Sky Lanterns, will add an exciting new element to any event. Their mysterious glow can be seen climbing several miles in the sky for around 20 minutes. Flight ceases when all the fuel has been burnt and the flame subsides then as the air in the lantern cools it will gently float back to the ground for a safe landing. The Lanterns will fly to more than 1,000 meters in altitude, providing an amazing show for all ages.

Night Glow Flying Lanterns are safe, fun and spectacular for any outdoor event, great at Barbecues etc.

Fuelled for 15-20 minutes of flying time.

Go to Youtube and search for "UFO Bangor" and you won't feel so bad! You might have difficulty with some of the accents as it is from Northern Ireland, but this report was started because of these lanterns! ;-)

There was a report on the Manchester Evening News website a few months ago about UFOs reported in an area of Salford, these lanterns were blamed.

i've seen these before but i remember them being a LOT more expensive?!

How many in a pack ?, or just for one !!

Found them here too http://www.iwantoneofthose.com/light-a-lanterns/index.html

Do they come back to where you started them from????

I make them out of wheely bin bags, wire and fire lighters. Bigger, lasts longer and goes higher, lots more at a fraction of the cost!

Ok, a bin bag looks less romantic, but once its 10m in the air you cannot tell the difference!

Not great for the environment though? If those bin bags get stuck in a tree they'll be there for years. The bought ones are biodegradable paper.

I bought 5 of these from a company on ebay based in this country i paid £11.50 delivered, let 1 go on Bonfire night, there was a fine mist/fret but it still rose high into the sky.

By the way these are supposed to be traditional in china and they write messages on them, nice touch if you let yours go before christmas, get your kids to write a wish to santa.

They are fantastic

if you attach a very light child or well trained small dog they could maybe pilot them back to your house

These look cool, but are they not a fire hazard, say if they a blown and crash into something flammable ?
#32
Nearly set the neighbours tree on fire with one of these:whistling: Must remember to not let these up with any wind in an enclosed back garden:oops:

watch out for the fireworks people. some of them are spoilsports and try to shoot towards your lantern hehe. oh and it's quite important to open it before lighting so two people holding one lighting would be ideal. saw one go up in flames (wrong angle) last weekend at the park lol.

I bought a pack of 10 of these from E-bay for £12.50 delivered. Rising price auction so I was lucky.

These things stand about 3 feet tall when inflated. Let the first one off in the garden, takes a while to fill with the hot air but once done off it went. Brilliant to follow out over the roof tops.

Let a second one off a couple of nights later, bit of a breeze and it went up like the Hindenburg. Slight breeze blew it over onto it's own flame and woosh.

Tried a third one which went up, caught the breeze then landed on our neighbours roof where it burned merrily away. We dashed in doors as if nothing had happened. The fact that my two young girls were screaming their heads off with laughter made it worth while but irresponsible I know.:whistling:

Gave it a couple of days before trying another round the side of the house to avoid prying eyes and less breeze. It took off ok till it got above guttering level of my garage when the breeze caught it once more, it gently slid up our garage roof and disappeared down the other side.

Dashed out the front only to see the wire frame and firelighter burning way on top of next door's car. (Different neighbour this time).

Needless to say I removed it pretty quickly but these are definately not for back gardens in a slight breeze.:-D

A fair point.. Also on the first attempt of a home made hotair balloon, the fire lighter fell from the wire about 100m over my village, opps
