Was out last night having a meal and ordered a round of Magners, came to £15.80 for 4 568ml bottles.
Ok you pay a bit more when out at the pub but £3.95 a bottle for the pleasure seems a little excessive.
Anyhow was in ASDA this afternoon and spotted a case of 6 bottles for £10 and these were 750ml bottles £1.66 each or buy 6 cases for £40 = £1.11 a bottle.

Bargain!!!

Excellent deal voted hot! £1.48 per litre, so still just about more expensive than petrol - well, this week anyway!

The Tesco deal is still better and means you dont have to spend £40 to get a better deal.

The Tesco offer is correct on Bulmers but Magners is not available on 3 for £20, its 3 x cases of 8 x 500ml cans of Magners which personally is never the same as Magners out of a bottle

£40 in Tesco would buy you 24L of Magners in Cans

£40 in Asda would buy you 27L of Magners in bottles

Dont get this thread. You say 3 for £10 or 6 cases for £40. I was in my local ASDA friday night and they were on offer for 2 for £16 or 3 for £20, so why mention the 6 for £40. Seems an odd way of putting it

Tesco website says
3 for £20.00 or 2 for £16.00
Bulmers or Magners 8 pack and it lists them as 568ml bottles

Personally I would take Bulmers anyway as its the same as Magners anway

Bulmers is
£20 In tesco would buy you 13.6L
£40 in tesco would buy you 27.2L

From the Magners website
"Is Magners the Same as Bulmers in Ireland?
Magners is identical to Bulmers in terms of product taste and characteristics and its branding, packaging and promotional strategy is based on the marketing approach, which has been so successful for the Bulmers brand in Ireland."

I don't see where the 3 for £10 was mentioned!! I said 6 750ml bottles for £10 or 36 bottles for £40

I did'nt see the 3 for £20 in Asda today, and if it was I suppose it was the 568ml bottles or 500ml cans for £20.

These bottles are 750ml and the current instore and online offer is 6 cases of 6 bottles for £40.

Ignore me I have been drinking too much. It was the large bottles as remember because I was comparing them to the Bulmers deal that was taken off last week and they were comparible despite there being two less bottles in the Mgners box. Hope its still on as I wanted 3 boxes that night but the shelf was empty. ;-)

Each to their own I suppose, but I find Bulmers a bit sweeter than Magners, and yes we have had testing competitions and everytime I can tell the Bulmers from the Magners.
Bulmers is still a nice drink though and now made and owned by Scottish & Newcastle who bought out H.P Bulmer in 2003.
Magners is made by irish drinks company C&C and sold in ireland as Bulmers but Magners over here.

Back to the original post can you find 36 750ml bottles of Magners for less than £40 or even 18 bottles for less than £20.

I bought 3 cases of Magners (6 x 1 pint bottles) for £20 in my local ASDA on Friday so it looks like you need to be careful about what you are getting.

So the long and short of it is, if you cant tell the difference (like me)buy the Bullers at Tesco and you dont have to spend £40 either :)
#22
Just buy the Bulmers :)

Keeps me in a job!!!

A pint of cider pre tax and duty costs about 1p to make!!!

In Store there is 3 cases for £20, and on the website you can get the same value deal but you have to buy 6 cases for £40

so its the same deal just more convenient and needs more of a commitment :-D

Bulmers Ireland (who make Magners and Bulmers) market their cider outside Ireland as magners, they are exactly the same and one does not taste sweeter than the other. The only reason for the name change outside of Ireland is because there is another cider that is called Bulmers that is sold in the rest of the U.K. Bulmers is usually cheaper than magners where it can be bought so if you can get bulmers for cheaper than magners then buy it .
