Boots opticians are doing Eye test for £5 at the moment by printing off the voucher available at the link, a bargain in itself.
The even better part is when you pay you get 1000 (£10) worth of advantage card points - so making a profit of £5 as well as getting your eyes tested

How did you get the 1000 points? Was it just automatically added at the till and if so do you know when that extra points offer runs to?

I got my eyes tested at Boots Opticians last week and used the £15.00 off voucher. When I paid I certainly didn't get 1000 advantage points added at the time. I wonder whether they will be added on later. Never noticed anything on their literature.

when i went to pay the lovely lady said you get points for having your eyes tested, 1000, left the opticians and went straight to boots and checked it on the advantage card machine, they where there instantly! yipeee. the £5 voucher is valid until 31/12/2010....

Sorry if this sounds daft.. but would this include evaluation/test for contact lenses, or just a regular eye test (assuming they're different)

I have to get my annual check again, and would be interested to ses what Boots may offer.
#17
The fact it is £5 is worth heat alone - cheers

i got a full prescription for glasses, but the outcome was i did not need glasses, but the examination was detailed and seemed very thoough

I think it's great that the op got the 1000 points, but unless the voucher says you're going to get it, I don't think we could count on it. Now, if they have some kind of voucher for 1000 points at the optician section that the SA scanned, which others could also pick up, then I'd say we could count on the points.

Tesco does free eye tests. If you don't believe the op or don't have a Boots card (like me) get your eye test at Tesco.

opticians are epic scammers, i dont trust any of them. they prescribe glasses to everyone and anyone. i have never heard anyone walk out of an opticians having been informed they have 20/20 vision. on the other hand most people i know who have been 'prescribed' glasses suffer eye pains from wearing the things.

Thanks for the heat, in the top 5 for the day, really chuft as its only my second post thanx

An added note, some employers, usually regarding office jobs, will pay for you to take an eye test. I know mine will as I'm always on a laptop at work. Worth an ask anyway ;)

I went to the opticians around 6 months ago for the first time, Im an IT manager so spend a good 10 hours + a day in front of a computer and have done for the last 6 years. I was suddenly getting really bad headaches and the doctor immediately sent me to the opticians (I was at the doctors for a different reason, but mentioned the headaches).

Had the basic eye test (which the company I work for paid for) AND the other one where they take photos of the back of your eyes etc (which I had to pay for)...everything was perfect! The woman said that if they wanted an example of perfect eyes (talking about the photos at this point)...mine would be ideal.

Above was also at a Boots opticians.

Um, have been going for eye tests every two years and each time am told I have 20/20 vision...

Yes that was my experience to, excellant service, unrushed and professional. Best bit apart from the amazing deal was, even though my eyes were not 100%, she did not recommend glasses, unlike asda opticians 3 years ago who insisted i needed reading glasses!
Well done all round Boots, still can't believe i made £5 profit ..................yipeeeeeeeeeeee
