I don't know if this is at every B&Q store, but I was at the Swinton branch today and they have a large clearance section at the front of the store. They are desperate to get rid of the stock so have signs marked on the clearance range saying: "Make us an offer, any reasonable offer accepted" (see pictures) basically you get to haggle the price for items, which is done at the till. Things were going for dirt cheap and I got things as littles as 1p. worth a look

B & Q stores have until the end off tomorrow to clear through all the clearance stock, they will accept offers because if they sell the stock they get "margin support" from head office which means no money is lost at store level. if they skip it (which they will have to do after tomorrow) the store loses the whole value of the product and will show bad figures for that store.

Just a heads up that tomorrow you will get anything for next to nothing.

i went to clacton today and they also had a sign up but when i made them an offer they said no and that it was half price already and couldn't reduce it more :w00t:

Sounds good, do you know if this is at all B&Q stores? Also what kind of items are in the offer??

it should be in all stores. our local one was accepting down to 10% of the ticket price today and i'd guess it will be lower tomorrow

They were doing this at mansfield and were selling kitchen doors for 50p and blanks of wood for 50p too. They had loads of extras like duckting for 25p and the box price was £35

Derby Superstore had this, although they would not reduce the garden structure i wanted that was ex display, glad they never though a Wilinsonplus have it cheaper and brand new

Just be careful though as it will go through at full price if you don't tell them it is on the offer selection

I've been trawling my local B&Qs over the past few days, trying to get together bits for a garage conversion into a granny flat. My best bargains are (so you know the sort of things you might get):

Integrated fridge freezer, unbranded, ex-display but perfect - was £399, got for £60
Zanussi compact dishwasher - marked £149, got for £60
Seattle complete toilet apart from seat £2
Bidet £1 (for the sis-in-law's Victorian semi, not my garage!)
8 packs of natural stone floor tiles - went through the till at £200-and-odds, paid £16
Loads of really expensive cabinet handles, various stiles, £1 each (were up to £25)
Ariston stainless steel splashback - 10p
    Stainless extractor chimney - £30
Zebrano bathroom cabinet - was £169 apparently - paid £15
    Oak cornice/pelmet - was £45 a strip, 50p (Scunthorpe)
Dozens of lightbulbs for 10p, stainless sockets and switches for £1 (cooker switch for 40p - they're normally £30ish). Paint tester pots 2p. Had to restrain myself from buying tons of tat "in case we ever need one"!

It varies massively what store you go into though - B&Q in Doncaster, and in Sheffield Darnall had loads of brill stuff, and marked it down really quickly as well as being really pro-active to get rid. I went to Barnsley and Dearne Valley today in the hope of finding a washing machine, and loads of stuff that had been 1p or 10p in Donny, Scunny or Worksop was still marked at about £3, and no staff around trying to get rid like they were in the other stores.

Best sale I've been to in years. Well worth a visit!

Anyone know if Edinburgh B&Q has any deals?

NI ones are (or at least were) crappy. Saturday I visited 3 (again)... I did het 3 x 10 packs of Keystone RJ45 faceplates for £1 each which is pretty good, but the "insert" for these TV/Sat/FM was marked "Clearance £16.95" - which is a Labgear/Philex unit that you can buy brand new elsewhere for half that.
Still, I'll be checking in the morning in case there is anything special.

All 4 of them should have something, however, some have more than others. My mate, who works for them, said some stores in the region had as much as £90000 in stock that they needed to get rid of by end of play Monday but others had as little as £1000.

Pay them all a visit and take your chances.

Hermiston gait was pretty poor when I was there on Friday. There are plenty of baths and white goods for the kitchen just on the left at the door. There didn't seem to be offers like those I've seen mentioned on other recent B&Q threads.

They had some plain blinds for 69p but bright pink or pale blue didn't appeal to me.

I'm going to head back to Hermiston Gait this lunch time to see if there is more stock out. r2mahara, if there is anything you want me to check out then get back to me by 12....just don't give me a shopping list!! ;-)

    Not much left in Wrexham

Tried to get a bit more discount on a sink, but bloke said no way and that they had a email on sat saying they were not to discount any further than the sickered prices under any circumstance. I said that other stores were discounting and he replied that they shouldnt be as head office has emailed them telling them not to ?? regardless I did try for a bit but wasnt getting anywhere

I do have a 10% card and it works on all clearance items

It does seem strange that some stores have massive bargains whilst others, like my local, seem to only marking decent items down to 60% of orignal price. I do wonder whether some managers are keeping prices high so the good stuff can find its way into their car after closing tonight.

i have just been to my local york store and it isnt "make us an offer" but prices are still very good. i just picked up a double oak wardrobe for £3.00!!! and a walnut bookcase for £0.10pence!! cant go wrong!!!

well ive been trawling all teh local B&Q's for a few days now went to Rhyl today and got a steam room generator thingie (i know what it does an im sure its got a good name haha) £10 of the queens finest pounds!!! so my hubby insisred on getting 2!?!? (maybe were having 2 steam rooms and hes not telling me!) it wasnt actually one of them things you buy coz its cheap ive wanted one for ages!! they scanned at just short of £500 and i didnt think we were going to get it for a tenner either the woman didnt seem happy lmao

they also had a body dryer which i REALLY wanted it was down to £150 and i asked if it was going down further but the very helpful (id already asked for white goods & bathrooms lol) and she said it was a different section?? so wouldnt be going down anymore
  32. deleted166012's avatar
Could not see any offer reductions at the Southend B and Q so wouldnt bother there, just a small amount of already reduced stuff and not that great reductions even there.
  33. PhilTop's avatar
I also work for B&Q and some stores will have better bargains than others because it will be thier Z class products that they are getting rid of. Basically, products that will be skipped if not sold by close of trade today. The other items in the clearance that are not on the list will be kept and put in the relevant departments clearance sections after today.

I think its more a case of just how tight they are. I'm sure some of them will squeak when they walk. :-D

Not been any decent sales at my local B&Q, been in it a few times recently and there's £10 or £20 off a couple of doors, washing machines etc but that's about it.
