I was after an impact driver for a while and spotted this deal on B&Q.

They are 18v Lithium Ion and come with two batteries and the charger.

It's £142 if bought online with free next day delivery.

It's a really good deal because the impact driver and one battery can cost more than this usually and this time you get the full kit.

Makita is waaay better than Dewalt / Bosch / Milwakee

The batteries are not compatible with the LXT range of Makita tools but since you get the drill and the impact driver you probably don't need to use the batteries with anything else.

Closest I could find to this was on eBay for £184 for same deal.

£4.97 cashback on TCB/Quidcrap.

Note: Looks like the deal is ending today. Order before 7pm for next day delivery.

Yeah, I don't understand why they do this - it's such a stitch up for people that don't quite know what they are looking at.

Don't buy, batteries not compatible with the other 100 plus 18v Makita cordless tools available.

probably because they can get the makita name out their at a cheaper price point due to lower quality materials, but appease the professionals so they don't feel like they are being short sold as they know the truth regarding the quality of the b&q only tools.

it depends what you want from the tools. if you want to use it every single day on the jobsite then yeah don't get it. if like me you are going to use it once in a while for home DIY use then it's perfect. I've used LXT range before and one single tool and one battery would cost more than all of this deal. I don't have any of the "100 plus" (unlikely) other tools so I don't really care what the batteries fit since all I want is a drill and an impact driver it will fit me just fine.

don't like it, don't buy it but ain't right to tell people it's crap or don't know what they're looking at.

it's not a pro tool (the fact that B&Q sells it should tell you that) but it's fine for regular DIY users like me and it's cheaper than it would normally be.

By all means, buy the LXT, and pay £60 a battery to use in your 100s of Makita tools...

The real batteries, with more capacity than these (1.3 ah vs 2.0) are under £20.

So basically 1 £20 battery is as good as the 2 you get here in terms of usable capacity.

I'm not sure where you are get £60 batteries from? That's utter, utter rubbish :)

That battery has 4 times the capacity of the ones with the B&Q drill. The higher the capacity, the more you pay.

However, the batteries that are twice as good as the ones in this kit and work with all the tools are under £20 each. It's that simple :)

I really don't get you lot.

I post a link to a DIYers tool. You all flip out going hur dur it's not as good as product X.
Is a Ford Ka as good as a Ferrari ?

If you want a home DIY drill and impact driver it's a good deal.
If you are a pro builder / joiner / carpenter / kitchen fitter and you already have the batteries, it's not good.

Compare apples with apples. not oranges.

and where in the link does it say it's a pro tool ?
where in the link does it say it's a brushless tool ?
where in the link does it say it's for jobsite use?

the items in question are not pretending to be anything. You can pay over £300 for the same tools in professional version or you can pay £142 for the non-pro version. Again, you're complaining about a problem that doesn't exist just hurr durr this wun not as good as that wun.

Trolls on ignore.

Everyone else. Yes it's not a pro tool, you have to determine if you need a pro tool or not. Stop listening to all the armchair bob the builders. It's fine for DIY use.

And you can get the pro LXT equivalent of what's on offer here for about £150, so it's basically the same price too :)

Problem is you are the one that stated it's £60 for a battery and over £300 for the same from the LTX range.

Both these statements are complete nonsense :)

You just said you can get what's on offer for £150.

Show us then.
Put up or shut up.
You can't can you.
#15
LXT range it's about £35 for the drill, £60 for the impact, £37 for the (Fast) charger and £18 for a battery with twice the usable capacity of the ones here.

That's £150.

Total £159 off the shelf with shipping. Call Power Tool UK, and i bet they will do you the lot for £150 with a makpac case chucked in for good measure.

Note: The Drill here is better. The impact driver here is much better. The charger here is both better and faster. The battery here will last longer and charge quicker....

You decide :)

This kit includes better batteries, a proper Makpac case and most importantly LXT tools and under £180 including next day delivery. Much better value in my opinion.

I agree 100% the b & q offer is no comparison to this at all, and remember if your makita battery doesnt last 3 years the send it bk for a new one, or even check out non o.e.m. batteries (non branded replicas) I have the 5ah non o.e.m. x3 and so far lasted me 12 months just got to look after them.

I have the standalone drill version of this setup bought a couple of years ago for £70, with 2 batts. Ok, its not up to LXT standard of build but for £70 with 2 batts, it was a no brainer. With 2 batts, you get no down time either, as one is on charge whilst the other one is in use.

If they did the standalone for £70 like before that's a steal, but I really cant see the need for an 18v impact driver....

After that, you still didn't remove your post despite being shown you can get the proper lxt models rather than the poorer quality b&q sheep in wolfs clothing models. shame on you ;)

This deal should be compared to the black and decker equivalent, or Bosch basic range. Don't get me wrong I love all my LXT gear but I wouldn't buy it just for it to sit in the garage for years between putting up the odd shelf or bird feeder! I don't think it's a great deal but then again I'm not overly bothered to get into an argument about it!
