Don't know how much the accesory set is worth, but that seems a bit high for me for a 14.4 v drill.

I picked up an 18v one for less than half that price recently... or are we paying a bit more for the name here perhaps... mine was a Draper!!

Nope not for the name, it's because Draper make for DIYers and Makita for the trade. There are various reasons why this is more expensive, namely build quality, charge time, battery capacity, etc.

There is a reason brands like Makita, Bosch, and Dewalt appear to expensive.

18v version is £174 in B and Q!................12volt drill driver is £99 in my B and Q! ::giggle:

Good deal if you need all the extras, but I think this is better if you have all the gear and just need a powerful cordless with batteries to spare. ie decking or kitchen fitting etc.

nice one mate, i've got B&D one from argos for £49.99 [item code.7111136] that contains a electric saw as well.

14.4v hammer drill / driver & 2 gears. Also contains loads of drill bits etc.

I'll vouch for on the ball getting good deals, just wish he had let me know when the 18v version was cheap, would have snapped at it instantly :

£70 for an 18v Makita is a steal.

just to add B&Q are doing the same makite mentioned here for £174.99 - and although they have a price match sign in store their customer services say they cant match it with a kingfisher group store.. - i'll wait for screwfix to open on the 27th dont hink i'll be buying much friom B&Q much nowadays
