Be sure to register it on the Makita UK website in the next 30 days to extend the warranty to 3 years.

I've had it for about 2 years now and paid around £85 - it's amazing how much easier having no wire makes hedge cutting :)

does the battery least looking on these though? struggle cutting dense bush?

Great price - I finally replaced a corded trimmer with this just last week (ebay best offer for £60 accepted on a new one... wasn't even sure it was going to turn up). Wouldn't hesitate to buy at £70 if it wasn't for that.

It depends what size battery you have - a 3ah battery lasts about 30 mins, and you cut much faster without having to worry about the cord.

It not massively powerful so could struggle compared to a corded one depending on what you are cutting. That said it does everything I need it to and more - it's hardest test for my is holly, which it copes with just fine, even branches up to 10mm.

I think the tooth size is probably designed to limit its capacity to what the power can handle - 10mm is probably about right - it may not 'bite' branches much larger than that.

For particularly dense and woody hedges, there's always the 36v DUH551
